摘要： A liner composition for a potable fluid container closure element which includes an inorganic sulfite such as sodium sulfite and/or a tocopherol compound such as dl-.alpha.-tocopherol (vitamin E) for preventing off-flavors due to the presence of aldehydes in the fluid. Also, a potable fluid container of a reservoir element for containing a potable fluid, the reservoir element having an opening, a closure element capable of being attached to the opening, and the liner composition associated with the closure element. Also, a method of improving the taste of a potable fluid such as bottled water by use of the container and one of the previously described liner compositions associated therewith. Also, an improved method for processing the composition into closure liners based upon the prevention of the development of off-flavor-causing substances therein.

摘要： Tertiary amides have been developed which have low volatility and good thermal stability and which are effective in stabilizing organic materials that are normally susceptible to oxidative deterioration. The novel antioxidants are tertiary amides corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a mono-, di-, or trivalent aromatic or saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing 1-20 carbons; n is an integer of 1-3 which is equal to the valence of R; R' is phenyl, benzyl, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl; m is an integer of 1-3; R" is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylene group; Z and Z' are independently selected from hydrogen and alkyl; and Q is carbonyl or sulfonyl.

摘要： A process for dispersing one or more powdered ignition resistant or flame retardant additives into carbonate polymers which comprises the steps of preparing a base concentrate having about 5 to about 50 weight per cent of said additives by blending said additives with a carbonate polymer having a melt flow rate from about 3 to about 20, pelletizing said base concentrate having said ignition resistant additive dispersed therein, dry blending said concentrate pellets with carbonate pellets having a melt flow rate from about 1 to about 80 whereby said polymer/concentrate blend has an amount of said additive dispersed therein effective to render said blend ignition resistant, and pelletizing or molding said carbonate polymer/concentrate blend. The use of this method gives ignition resistant carbonate polymers with improved impact properties as measured by Izod impact tests.

摘要： A process for preparing a water soluble phenol-formaldehyde resole resin having improved storage stability employs a calcium compound to catalyze the condensation reaction which occurs under basic conditions. Sulfamic acid is used to neutralize the resole solution, yielding a soluble calcium salt which will not settle out of the solution or clog transfer lines or spray nozzles as may a calcium salt precipitated during the neutralization. Glass fiber insulation produced using a binder prepared with the aqueous resole solution shows enhanced thickness recovery and lower odor potential.

The composition comprises a thermoplastic polymer in admixture with an antistatic agent. In one embodiment the polymer is nylon 12 and the agent is N-butyl benzenesulfonamide. Also disclosed is the antistatic polymeric composition in a film, which is useful for packaging static sensitive devices such as electronic circuit boards, or for packaging devices that must be protected from static electricity such as devices in a medical operating room where explosive oxygen and/or ether are present.
