Abstract: Embodiments of an Evolved Node-B (eNB), User Equipment (UE), and methods for flexible duplex communication are generally described herein. The eNB may transmit a downlink control information (DCI) block to the UE during a group of time-division duplex (TDD) sub-frames. The eNB may further receive an uplink control information (UCI) block from the UE during the group of TDD sub-frames. A first candidate flexible duplex format for the TDD sub-frames may include a downlink control portion and an uplink control portion. A second candidate flexible duplex format for the TDD sub-frames may include a downlink control portion and may exclude uplink control portions.

Abstract: An architecture for wireless network access is described. In one example, a network entity comprises processing circuitry to define a downlink control channel comprising a synchronization signal, a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), and at least one slot for contention resolution or device-to-device (D2D) discovery and link setup, and broadcast a synchronization signal comprising the control channel from a plurality of remote radio heads (RRH). Abstract: Embodiments described herein include devices, methods, and instructions for managing beam interpolation in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. In one example embodiment, an evolved node B is configured to transmit to a UE using massive MIMO by transmitting multiple beamformed reference signals on multiple transmission beams each associated with a different plurality of antennas. The eNB receives beam interpolation information back from the UE, and then generates a data transmission that is sent to the UE using an interpolated transmission beam from a first and second transmission beam.

Abstract: Embodiments of an Evolved Node-B (eNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for directional communication are generally described herein. The eNB may transmit, signal and an uplink scheduling block to a first UE according to a downlink transmission direction from the eNB to the first UE. The eNB 104 may further transmit, during the downlink sub-frame, a second beam refinement training signal and a downlink scheduling block to a second UE according to a downlink transmission direction from the eNB to the second UE. The uplink scheduling block may indicate scheduled uplink resources for a scheduled uplink transmission by the first UE and the downlink scheduling block may indicate scheduled downlink resources for a scheduled downlink transmission to the second UE.

Abstract: Technology for decreasing latency for contention based scheduling request (SR) is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) can randomly select a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble index for a PRACH transmission. The UE can multiplex the PRACH preamble index together with a SR message containing a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) and a buffer status report (BSR) for the PRACH transmission. The UE can process, for transmission, to an enhanced node B (eNB), the PRACH preamble index multiplexed with the SR message in a subframe #(n) of the PRACH transmission, wherein n is a subframe number.

Abstract: Embodiments of user equipment (UE), an enhanced node B (eNB), and methods of signaling for proximity services and device-to-device (D2D) discovery in an LTE network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the UE receives configuration information for a D2D discovery resource pool of a cell. The configuration information includes an indication that the D2D discovery resource pool has been logically divided into a plurality of sub-discovery resource pools. The UE performs an initial transmission of a discovery signal in a discovery period using a single D2D discovery resource from a first sub-discovery resource pool of the plurality of sub-discovery resource pools. The UE performs a number of additional transmissions of the discovery signal in the discovery period using additional D2D discovery resources from sub-discovery resource pools of the plurality of sub-discovery resource pools other than the first sub-discovery resource pool. Other apparatuses and methods are also described.

Abstract: Example systems, methods, and devices for extending range of WiFi networks are discussed. More specifically, methods for extending range of a Wi-Fi network are disclosed. The method may include the operations of appending, by a network device, one or more codebits to one or more original codebits or coded symbols, sending, by the network device, the original codebits or coded symbols and the appended codebits to an interleaver or a constellation mapper for transmission. The original codebits or coded symbols and the appended codebits may be sent over a plurality of subcarriers. Methods, apparatus, and systems described herein can be applied to 802.11ax or any other wireless standard.

Abstract: A License Assisted Access (LAA) enhanced NodeB (eNB), user equipment (UE) and communication methods therebetween operating in a Long Term Evolution unlicensed band (LTE-U) are generally described. The eNB may transmit a request to the UE for information regarding a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) over which the UE may be able to communicate. The WLAN information may include an LTE-U channel and time window for reporting. The UE may obtain the WLAN information through communication with an access point (AP). Measurement information of the LTE-U channel may also be obtained by or on behalf of the UE. The UE may transmit the WLAN information to the eNB. The eNB may use the WLAN information or submit the WLAN information to a network entity to perform channel selection, UE grouping or localization, appointing delegate UEs to perform channel sensing or scheduling UEs in a same group or proximity.

Abstract: In embodiments, apparatuses, methods, and storage media may be described for allocating radio resources to a user equipment (UE) for device to device (D2D) transmission. Specifically, the UE may be configured to predict cellular interference to one or more cellular transmissions in a cell that may be caused by the transmission of a D2D signal. Based on that predicted interference, the UE may identify one or more radio resources in for the D2D transmission.
