Abstract:
Integrated wheel and wheel hub assembly for a vehicle, including a wheel hub (3), a wheel (2), carried by the wheel hub (3), a suspension mount (5) to connect the wheel hub (3) to the vehicle body, a rolling bearing, interposed between the wheel hub (3) and the suspension mount (5), and a brake rotor (39). The wheel includes a a rim (10) for the insertion of a tire (11) and a wheel flange (13), substantially radial, to connect the rim (10) with the wheel hub (3), the empty wheel flange (13) being prepared as an independent component, both of the rim (10) and of the wheel hub (3), and being connected solidly axially and angularly and in a secured manner to the wheel huo (3), and being connectable in a removable way to the rim (10).
Abstract:
A complete vehicle wheel assembly includes a wheel with wheel rim having two opposed circular rim flanges and a tire having beads secured at the circular rim flanges. Each one of the circular rim flanges has a tubular hollow chamber with an annular opening. The tubular hollow chamber has a square or rectangular cross-section, and the annular opening has a width such that the bead is insertable into the tubular hollow chamber only in a rotated or deformed state after insertion of the bead, a remaining free space in the tubular hollow chamber is filled with a liquid, hardenable material.
Abstract:
An annular element (3) placed between the two beads (12) of a tire (P) moed on a flat-base rim (J). In order to be able to use the tire on said rim without an inner tube, the annular element, in order to assure the tightness of the assembly, has in meridian section a contour and, in particular, two lateral sides (30) such that the clamping s between the ring and the beads, which is zero or even negative at the base of the ring, increases then slightly over a certain radial distance h.sub.1 and then more greatly over a distance h.sub.2 radially adjacent the first distance.
Abstract:
In order to be able to increase the diameter of the standard rim (J') of aire (P) without independent inner tube, which is provided with beads the seats of which are frustoconical and is normally used on this standard rim (J') having a mounting groove, the tire (P) is mounted on the rim (J) having a cylindrical rim base without mounting groove and the diameter (.phi..sub.JS) of which is greater than the diameter of the mounting groove of the rim (J') by means of two adapters (S.sub.1, S.sub.2) of compression-resistant vulcanized rubber reinforced by meridian and circumferential elements.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel rim is disclosed a pair of bead seats, and axially inwards of and adjacent to each bead seat a circumferentially extending tire toe engaging groove. There is a secondary bead retaining means between the bead seat and the groove comprising a hump having a height measured radially from the bead seat surface adjacent to the hump of 1 to 3.0 mm. The hump preferably has a steep surface on its axially outer edge. The resultant wheel still correctly seats a normal tire with the toe engaging the hump when the tire is deflated and correctly engages in a TD type of tire with the toe in the groove.
Abstract:
A self-sealing pneumatic tire that has an inner surface provided with a layer of sealant and a plurality of edge strips that partially overlap the sealant layer to retain the sealant in position during construction and operation of the tire. Construction is simplified by utilizing a laminate structure incorporating such edge strips and also comprising an air impermeable elastomer strip, the center of which is coated with a layer of puncture sealant material and having the edge strips adhesively attached to the elastomer strip and partially overlapping the edges of the sealant layer. Also, a method of constructing this tire by attaching a tire body or carcass to this laminate structure prior to molding and curing the tire. During the molding process, the edge strips that partially overlap the sealant layer hold the sealant in place preventing it from flowing in an uncontrolled manner.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a pneumatic tire comprising a carcass composed of at least one cord ply extending between a pair of bead portions, an inner liner adhered to the inner surface of the carcass, and a rubber reinforcing layer made of a rubber composition different from and having a Shore A hardness higher than that of the inner liner and disposed at a lower part of the bead portion including a bead toe portion and a bead heel portion to form an outermost bead rubber at least at that region of the bead portion which comes into contact with a rim. In the tire, the rubber reinforcing layer is divided into an axially inside portion inclusive of the bead toe portion and an axially outside portion at a boundary surface located in an area between the bead toe portion and a position corresponding to 1/2 of a height of a rim flange, and the axially outside portion is extended over the height of the rim flange outwardly in the radial direction of the tire, and rubber of the axially inside portion is small in the Shore A hardness and abrasion resistance index and high in the breaking energy after heat deterioration as compared with that of the axially outside portion.
Abstract:
A safety wheel with a rim having a tubeless tire mounted on the rim about its periphery. The rim is formed with flanges and an air chamber defined by the rim and the tubeless tire, has a bead stopper disposed within the said air chamber for gripping portions of the tubeless tire in cooperation with the flanges so to contain the bead portions against axial displacement relative to the rim. The bead stopper has a plurality of rigid circular bead stopper units flexibly connected in a radial direction to form an endless configuration with an inner peripheral surface fitted into a rim base on the rim. One of at least a pair of interconnected bead stopper units is formed at one end with a male connecting section having connecting pins, and anotjer end is formed with a female connecting section having hook-like locking concave portions. The locking concave portions and connecting pins of the female and male respectively being disengageably connected to each other.
Abstract:
A tubeless tire and rim assembly including an annular bead lock in the form of an endless train of lock elements interconnected by flexible joints. The bead lock can have not only a fully expanded circular configuration to fit over the rim base but also a partly folded configuration to lie within the inner peripheral circle of the tire. This particularly facilitates the mounting of such bead lock while effectively preventing any improper positioning thereof. An embodiment incorporating a flat-protector together with the bead lock is also contemplated to further improve the driving safety.
Abstract:
