摘要: A display apparatus, that includes current driving type luminescent elements, has a driving system that takes the conduction types of TFTs to control the emission of the luminescent elements into consideration. In order to reduce driving voltage and improve display quality simultaneously, the arrangement is provided such that if the second TFT which performs the “on-off” function of the current for the luminescent element is of an N channel type, the potential of the common power supply line (“com”) is lowered below the potential of the opposite electrode (“op”) of the luminescent element to obtain a higher gate voltage (“Vgcur”). In this case, if the first TFT connected to the gate of the second TFT is of a P channel type, when using the potential of the potential-holding electrode (“st”) at the “on” state as a reference, potentials of the scanning signal (“Sgate”) at the lower potential and the common power supply line (“com”) are rendered of the same polarities with respect to this potential of the potential-holding electrode (“st”). Therefore, the potential of the image signal (“data”) to turn “on” can be shifted within the range of the driving voltage in the display apparatus in the direction to reduce resistances at the “on” states of the first TFT and the second TFT to reduce driving voltage and improve display quality.

摘要: An object of the invention is to improve patterning accuracy while maintaining low cost, high throughput and a high degree of freedom of an optical material in a matrix type display device and a manufacturing method thereof. In order to achieve the object, a difference in height, a desired distribution of liquid repellency and affinity to liquid, or a desired potential distribution is formed by utilizing first bus lines in a passive matrix type display device or utilizing scanning lines, signal lines, common current supply lines, pixel electrodes, an interlevel insulation film, or a light shielding layer in an active matrix type display device. A liquid optical material is selectively coated at predetermined positions by utilizing the difference in height, the desired distribution of liquid repellency and affinity to liquid, or the desired potential distribution.

摘要: Aspects of the invention can provide a method for driving an electro-optical device, an electro-optical device and electronic equipment that can solve the insufficient supply of the data current and current fluctuation. In the driving method, a data current can be applied to a plurality of pixels provided to a display panel unit with same value through the data line regardless of grayscale data. Upon supply of the data current, in the pixel, a transistor selected in reproduction can be turned on such that a drive current corresponding to the data current output from a driving transistor is supplied to an organic EL element, thereby emitting light. A light-off signal can be supplied to the pixel at predetermined timing such that the organic EL element emits light only in the light-emitting period computed based on the grayscale data. The pixel to which a constant data current can be supplied emits light at a luminance corresponding to the grayscale data by changing the light-emitting period corresponding to the grayscale data.

摘要: The invention provides a method for implementing a multi-level display of an electro-optical device according to a time ratio gray-scale method without providing reset lines. In an electro-optical device that includes, at an intersection of a scanning line and a data line, an electro-optical element, a driving transistor that drives the electro-optical element, and a switching transistor that controls the driving transistor, a gray-scale is obtained by performing a plurality of set-reset operations. Each set-reset operation includes: a setting step of supplying an on-signal to the switching transistor via the scanning line, and of supplying a set signal to select a conducting state or a non-conducting state of the driving transistor to the driving transistor via the data line and the switching transistor in accordance with the one signal; and a resetting step of supplying an on-signal to the switching transistor via the scanning line, and of supplying a reset signal to select the non-conducting state of the driving transistor to the driving transistor via the data line and the switching transistor in accordance with the one signal.
