    Abstract: Described are methods and devices for enabling D2D communications with signal structures that require minimal changes to the current LTE architecture. In the embodiments described, the eNB grants resources to UEs for D2D communication and either initiates or permits a pair of UEs to establish a D2D link. Certain embodiments are designed to minimize changes to the current LTE control signaling structure by having the control signaling always come from the eNB as in a normal cellular link so that the transmitting UE transmits over a data channel (e.g., PUSCH/PDSCH) that the receiving UE is able to decode.

    Abstract: In a wireless communication network, specific portions of the communication may combine directional transmission with omnidirectional reception. In particular, sector-level directional transmission may be established through sector sweeps, followed by antenna training for more directionality. In some embodiments, collisions during the exchange may be reduced by having different network devices use different sub-channels or different time slots. In some embodiments, each network may restrict its network communications to a single sub-channel that is different than the sub-channels used by adjacent networks.

    Abstract: A wireless communication device, method and system. The device includes a memory, and a processing circuitry coupled to the memory. The processing circuitry is to: decode at least one signal field portion of a signal field of a Physical Layer Convergence Protocol (PLCP) Data Unit (PPDU) received over a bonded channel, the bonded channel comprising a plurality of subchannels including a punctured subchannel, the signal field portion on at least one unpunctured subchannel of the plurality of subchannels; determine, from the at least one signal field portion, information on a resource allocation for the device, the resource allocation indicating at least one resource unit (RU) used in a data field of the PPDU for the device; and decode a data field portion of the data field of the PPDU, the data field portion received on a part of the punctured subchannel based on the resource allocation.

    Abstract: An apparatus of a Fifth Generation NodeB (gNB) to operate in a License Assisted Access (LAA) system configures a transmission initiation time interval contention window size (CWS) of N number of subframes between Category 4 Listen Before Talk (LBT) uplink (UL) transmissions by a user equipment (UE) operating in the LAA system, and a memory to store a value of N which can have a value 6 or greater or 10 or greater. An apparatus of a UE to operate in an LAA system decodes a configuration from the gNB of a transmission initiation time interval contention CWS of N number of subframes between Category 4 LBT UL transmissions in the LAA system. The CWS is increased to a next higher value when an UL grant or an autonomous UL (AUL) downlink feedback indicator (DFI) is not received before the expiration of a timer.
