Abstract:
A new form of printed material, referred to herein as a booksert, provides printed information concerning commercial products, such as drug products and the like. The booksert is preferably formed from a single sheet of material that is printed, folded, glued and trimmed to form a multi-page booksert. The booksert can also include a removable insert.
Abstract:
A decorative cover positionable about a flower pot or floral grouping is formed of a polymeric material or a laminated polymeric material. The decorative cover has a texture or appearance simulating the texture or appearance of paper on at least a portion of one surface thereof while maintaining the structural and mechanical characteristics of the polymeric material from which the decorative cover is formed. In addition to the texture or appearance simulating the texture or appearance of paper, the decorative cover may further be provided with printed and/or embossed patterns, which may be in or out of register with one another.
Abstract:
A panel of a material is transported in operative proximity to an air knife having a nozzle and a curved Coanda surface, such that the panel is folded over the curved Coanda surface as the material is transported in a machine direction. The panel can be folded to a variety of angles and can comprise a refastenable fastening component. Air knives are employed in various methods for folding garment side panels and forming prefastened garments, such as refastenable pants.
Abstract:
A machine and a process for formation of a continuous composite tape for the production of wrappings for food products, along with the tape and a wrapping formed using the same; the machine being such that it includes; supply means to provide materials for forming the tape, a unit for bonding of said materials, applicator groups to apply glue on the materials and on the continuous composite tape thus formed, devices for applying the glue along preferred areas; the process being such that it includes the operations of application of the glue on preferred areas of the continuous composite tape and of bonding thereof; the wrapping being such as to provide a perforated flap at its opening and a layer of glue capable of allowing sealing during the packing operation.
Abstract:
This invention relates sealing of paperboard cartons in order to form an integral structural. Such structures of this type, generally, employ the use of radiation curable, pressure-sensitive adhesives and "spot curing" of the adhesives in order to seal and form the carton.
Abstract:
An article forming system for forming at least one sheet of material into an article, such as a decorative flower pot cover for example, and a novel article formed utilizing such a system. The article forming system includes a male die, a female die and a platform having a support surface and an opening extending through the support surface. The female die is disposed generally within the opening in the platform with the upper end of the female die being disposed near the support surface. The article forming system includes means for slidingly holding portions of the sheet of material generally against portions of the support surface while permitting such held portions to slide on the support surface during the forming of the article for cooperating in forming a decorative border on the decorative flower pot cover type of article which flares generally away from the flower pot object when the decorative flower pot cover article is applied to the flower pot. The article formed in accordance with the present invention includes overlapping folds formed by overlapping portions of the sheet of material to bring portions of the sheet of material into bondable contact, the overlapping folds providing the mechanical strength necessary for the formed sheet of material to hold a predetermined shape thereby permitting the utilization of thinner sheets of material to form articles.
Abstract:
A unique method of producing a reinforced moulded sheet having one continuously planar face and having a plurality of ribs or thickened areas which provide a corresponding plurality of prominences directed outwardly of the other face, said prominences having predetermined shapes, locations and dimensions to serve as reinforced areas for said sheet. And a series of new or improved composite hollow moulded panels, each comprised of at least two co-extensive elements, each of said panels being reinforced and improved by the provision of at least one of said reinforced moulded sheets as an external element of said at least two co-extensive elements, the ribs or thickened areas of said reinforced sheet being glued internally of said hollow panel to the adjacent co-extensive element thereof.
Abstract:
A container having a mixture of one part of a two-part epoxy adhesive with a plurality of glass beads pre-mixed therein. The concentration of beads in the final mixture as applied to the joint to be bonded is in the range of about 5% to about 20% by weight, with the beads having a diameter in the range of 0.003 to about 0.030 inches. The mixture is capable of being pumped from the container and applied to a member for forming a hem flange joint with another member. The adhesive/glass beads mixture finds particular utility to help prevent excess squeeze out and promote reliable bonds in processes in which an inner and outer panel of an exterior automotive closure member are joined together by way of a hem flange.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrochemical sensor which is made up of an insulating base plate bearing an electrode on its surface which reacts with an analyte to produce mobile electrons. The base plate is mated with a lid of a deformable material which has a concave area surrounded by a flat surface so that when mated to the base plate there is formed a capillary space into which a fluid test sample can be drawn. The side of the lid facing the base is coated with a polymeric material which serves to bond the lid to the base plate and to increase the hydrophilic nature of the capillary space.
