摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation system for an automotive internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas recirculation control valve disposed in an exhaust gas recirculation passage connecting intake air and exhaust gas passageways of the engine. The exhaust gas recirculation control valve is controllably operated in response to a signal vacuum or intake vacuum downstream of a throttle valve. The signal vacuum is regulated in response to an engine operating condition by a vacuum control valve. The vacuum control valve has a diaphragm-operated valve member for closing and opening an atmospheric air introduction port through which atmospheric air is introduced to modify or dilute the signal vacuum to be supplied to the exhaust gas recirculation control valve. The diaphragm of the vacuum control valve is biased by springs, in which the biasing force of the springs is controllable by a stepper motor regulated in response to the engine operating condition. During stopping of the engine, the stepper motor is regulated in a manner so that the valve member is maintained at a position remote from the atmospheric air introduction port, thereby preventing the valve member from sticking to a pipe defining the atmospheric air introduction port, due to a sticky material which enters from the intake passageway.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a toner-image forming unit, a transfer unit, a cleaner, a plurality of cylindrical transport path forming members, a falling transport path forming member, and a discharge port. The falling transport path forming member has through holes in a side wall thereof. A second end of each of the transport path forming members is inserted into a corresponding one of the through holes. The falling transport path forming member forms a falling transport path that causes toner ejected from an ejection port disposed in the second end to fall. The discharge port is disposed in a lower part of the falling transport path forming member to discharge the toner to a discharge destination. The second ends of the transport path forming members are disposed offset from each other in a horizontal direction on the side wall of the falling transport path forming member.

摘要: An image processing apparatus eliminates a detection error in a color offset detecting operation due to a periodic fluctuation in a speed of a conveying belt which conveys a transfer sheet on which color component images are transferred and superimpose to form a multi-color image. A plurality of image forming units are arranged along the conveying belt, each of the image forming units transferring a color component image on the transfer sheet and also transferring a register mark on the conveying belt. A register mark detecting sensor located along the conveying belt detects the register mark on the conveying belt. A distance between the register mark detecting sensor and one of the plurality of image forming units adjacent to the register mark detecting sensor is a multiple of an integer of a circumference of the drive roller. A distance between adjacent ones of the plurality of image forming units is a multiple of an integer of the circumference of the drive roller.

摘要: An electrically writable nonvolatile semiconductor memory device capable of writing data to any desired threshold value accurately without resorting to a write confirming operation is disclosed. The memory device senses a current flowing through a memory cell transistor while effecting a writing operation. When the current reaches a preselected value, the memory device stops the writing operation. A relation between a desired threshold voltage and the current to flow through the memory cell transistor during wiring is determined beforehand. This eliminates the need for the confirmation of the threshold voltage relying on a reading operation, and allows a desired threshold voltage to be set rapidly and accurately.

摘要: The non-volatile semiconductor memory disclosed includes an X-decoder and word line potential supply circuits, and a current setting/holding circuit. The X-decoder and the word line potential supply circuits set all word lines ground potential in the flash erasing operation, to a predetermined first over-erasing judgment reference potential in an "on" cell detecting operation, and to a predetermined second over-erasing judgment reference potential for judgment of over-erasing deeper than the first over-erasing judgment reference potential and, in an "on" cell specifying operation, set predetermined selected word lines to the first over-erasing judgment reference potential while setting other word lines than the selected word line to the second over-erasing judgment reference potential. The current setting/holding circuit sets the reference current in an "on" cell specifying reference current setting operation such that the result of the check by a sense amplifier is "on". It is possible to eliminate the possibility of generation of a memory cell transistor in a non-erased state, thus ensuring quick operation.

摘要: Described is a fragrancing composition having fragrancing components that are not activated until, e.g., application to the skin of a human. The composition is alkaline or (if anhydrous) capable of producing an alkaline pH when in contact with water, prior to application, and includes (1) a vehicle such that when the composition is in contact with water, prior to application, the composition is at an alkaline pH; and (2) at least one potential fragrance that is at least one compound having little or no odor in the alkaline composition but which, e.g., is hydrolyzed in a lower pH environment to produce compounds having a relatively strong aroma. Upon application of the alkaline composition to the skin surface, the strong buffering capacity of the skin (the surface of which has a normal pH of 5.5-7.0) neutralizes alkalinity of the composition (lowers pH) so as to restore normal skin surface pH; the potential fragrance is then hydrolyzed at the lower pH to release the compound having relatively strong aroma. The potential fragrance can be incorporated as a component of a transparent (clear) deodorant stick composition for application to human axillary regions, the fragrance being released after application to the body.
