Abstract:
An analyte monitor includes a sensor, a sensor control unit, and a display unit. The sensor has, for example, a substrate, a recessed channel formed in the substrate, and conductive material disposed in the recessed channel to form a working electrode. The sensor control unit typically has a housing adapted for placement on skin and is adapted to receive a portion of an electrochemical sensor. The sensor control unit also includes two or more conductive contacts disposed on the housing and configured for coupling to two or more contact pads on the sensor. A transmitter is disposed in the housing and coupled to the plurality of conductive contacts for transmitting data obtained using the sensor. The display unit has a receiver for receiving data transmitted by the transmitter of the sensor control unit and a display coupled to the receiver for displaying an indication of a level of an analyte. The analyte monitor may also be part of a drug delivery system to alter the level of the analyte based on the data obtained using the sensor.
Abstract:
Systems, devices and methods for using environmental data to manage health care are disclosed. One aspect is an advanced patient management system. In various embodiments, the system includes at least one implantable medical device (IMD) to acquire at least one IMD parameter indicative of patient wellness, means to acquire at least one environmental parameter from at least one external source, and means to correlate the at least one parameter indicative of patient wellness and the at least one environmental parameter to assist with patient health care decisions. Other aspects and embodiments are provided herein.
Abstract:
Introduced are a bed device system and methods for: gathering human biological signals, such as heart rate, breathing rate, or temperature; analyzing the gathered human biological signals; and controlling the bed device system, e.g., a temperature of the bed device, based on the analysis.
Abstract:
A UV exposure dosimetry system includes at least one UV sensor that accurately measures the UV irradiance intensity. The system can generate extrapolated UV intensity data based on measured UV intensity data to correct unreliable UV measurement due to inconsistent irradiation of UV light. The UV dosimetry system integrates the extrapolated UV intensity data over time to calculate the real-time UV dosage and the vitamin D production by taking into account factors comprising UV sensor location, body surface area, clothing coverage, and sunscreen usage. Based on the measurement, the system can predict the time remaining to skin burn and the time remaining to reach daily goal of vitamin D production. The UV dosimetry system supports multi-user control through an advanced and user friendly input and output interface.
Abstract:
A system for in-vivo monitoring of pressure of a body fluid. The system comprises a delivery component and an elongate sensor delivery member shaped so as to pass through the delivery component when it has been inserted in to a patient. A first pressure sensor is positioned at a distal end of the delivery member.
Abstract:
An ultrasound device can be calibrated for forming skeleton density information. This ultrasound device includes a calibration program integrated programmatically to the ultrasound device and a calibration part for calibrating a known distance L. The velocity of ultrasound is known for different temperatures in the calibration part. The ultrasound device includes at least two transmitters having a distance of L1 between them for transmitting ultrasound signals into the skeleton, and at least two receivers having a distance of L2 between them for receiving ultrasound signals from the skeleton. At least one of distances L1 and L2 is equal to the calibrated known distance L. The ultrasound device also includes a processing unit for calculating an ultrasound velocity in the skeleton.
