Abstract: Devices and methods for monitoring physiologic parameters are described where an airway device, in one embodiment, may comprise a mouthpiece section and an opening section defining one or more airway lumens therethrough with a first sensor in fluid communication with the one or more airway lumens and a second sensor positioned upon a hand-piece for contact against a portion of the user. The first sensor may be configured to detect an airway pressure when a user inhales or exhales through the one or more airway lumens, and the second sensor may be configured to detect a physiological signal from the user. Additionally, a controller may be in communication with the first and second sensors where the controller is programmed to correlate pressure oscillations in the airway pressure with heartbeats.

Abstract: An apparatus for generating ECG recordings and a method for using the same are disclosed. The apparatus includes a handheld device having four electrodes on an outer surface thereof, the handheld device having an extended configuration and a storage configuration. The apparatus also includes a controller configured to measure signals between the electrodes to provide signals that are used to generate an ECG recording selected from the group consisting of standard lead traces and precordial traces. When the handheld device is in the extended configuration and the first and second electrodes contact a first hand of a patient such that the first and second electrodes contact different locations on the first hand, the third electrode is in contact with a location on the patient's other hand and the fourth electrode contacts a point on the patient's body that depends on the particular trace being measured.

Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating assessment of blood flow in a tissue volume of a subject are disclosed. In some variations, the method may include: after a predetermined amount of a fluorescence agent has been administered to the subject, exciting the fluorescence agent in the tissue volume such that the excited fluorescence agent emits fluorescent light, acquiring fluorescence data based on the fluorescent light emitted during blood flow through the tissue volume, estimating a molar concentration of the fluorescence agent in the blood flowing through the tissue volume, and generating an assessment of blood flow in the tissue volume based at least in part on the fluorescence data and the estimated molar concentration of the fluorescence agent. The estimated molar concentration may be based on the predetermined amount of the fluorescence agent and an estimated circulating blood volume of the subject.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a sensor system includes: a first device including a first controller and a first communicator; and a plurality of second devices each including an altitude sensor, a blood oxygen saturation level sensor, a second controller, and a second communicator. The second controller of the second device is configured to transmit altitude information measured by the altitude sensor and biometric information measured by the blood oxygen saturation level sensor to the first device through the second communicator. The first device has determination information comprising determination thresholds for a blood oxygen saturation level corresponding to different altitudes. The first controller is configured to warn that the blood oxygen saturation level is lower than the determination threshold corresponding to the altitude information based on the altitude information and the biometric information received from each of the second devices through the first communicator and the determination information.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for evaluating obstructive sleep apnea with PPG signal are provided. Measured heartbeat interval signal is used to evaluate whether there is obstructive apnea. The system includes a motion sensor for detecting whether a user is in a stationary state; an optical sensor for measuring the heartbeat interval signal of the user in a stationary state; a microprocessor for processing the heartbeat interval signal of the user to obtain an apnea parameter; an alert module for receiving the apnea parameter and feeding them back to the user; and a memory module for storing the apnea parameter after the signal processing. The system and method are used to determine whether the heartbeat interval signal is an obstructive sleep apnea signal, and further determine whether the user is in an obstructive sleep apnea situation.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods provide wireless, disposable, continuous pulse oximeter sensor technology, useful and beneficial for a number of applications including relatively extended periods of data collection, and/or packaged in compact and easy-to-use assemblies. Economic fabrication and use provides flexible methodologies that can reduce the overall costs of monitoring and collecting patient's physiological data, and provide relatively greater ease and comfort to the patient. A disposable wireless continuous pulse oximeter sensor has a reduced emitter-detector separation, a low-power frontend, and a low-cost processor that sends waveforms to a host device so that the host can calculate and display the parameters of interest. Complications created by the reduced distance between emitter and detector are minimized by using an emitter-detector assembly with an optically dark background, and a bandage for improved optical compliance.
