摘要: In one embodiment, a nasal cannula is shaped to fit within a user's nares, where the nasal cannula includes at least one prong allowing high flow delivery of humidified gases and creates positive airway pressure in the patient's airway. The prongs have angled ends such that, in use, gases flowing through the prongs are directed to the user's nasal passages. The nasal cannula body is partially swivelling and preferably has a ball joint connector. In another embodiment the nasal cannula may have at least one flared end prong that preferably seals within a patient's nare.

摘要: Wireless systems and methods include a plurality of peripheral electronic devices each having a wireless communication system. A processor is configured to establish an association confidence level indicative of a likelihood that a peripheral electronic device is associated to a monitored subject for each peripheral electronic device based on association criteria. Indicators are configured to communicate the association the association confidence level.

摘要: A patient interface device (8) includes a cushion assembly (100) that is customizable to compensate for anatomical variances from patient-to-patient and, therefore, provides an effective seal with the patient's face. The cushion assembly includes a cushion member (102) having a first side structured to engage the patient's face, and a second side disposed opposite the first side, a plurality of plate members (108, 110, 112, 114, 116), and an adjustment mechanism (120, 122, 124). The adjustment mechanism is structured to adjust the position of the plate members, thereby changing the shape of the cushion member to generally conform to the patient's face.

摘要: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, methods and devices for respiratory support. As one example, a method for respiratory support is described that includes providing a measured pressure, and calculating a net flow based on at least one measured inlet flow and measured outlet flow. A relationship between a first value related to the measured pressure, a second value related to the measured net flow and a third value related to patient effort is used to provide a prediction of patient effort. An interim value is updated based at least in part on the prediction of the patient effort, and used to help compute a patient effort. A ventilation cycle is initiated using the computed patient effort.

摘要: A liquid-container/ventilation-tube kit for a ventilation system that includes (a) a ventilator, (b) a respiratory humidifier having a housing and a liquid container, the housing having a pair of first electrical contact elements, (c) a first inhalation tube extending from the respiratory humidifier to a Y-piece, (d) a second inhalation tube extending from the ventilator to the respiratory humidifier, and (e) an exhalation tube extending from the Y-piece to the ventilator, the kit including the liquid container having a pair of first connection elements for removable connection of the first and second inhalation tubes thereto, and a pair of second connection elements each attached to a respective one of the first and second inhalation tubes and by which each of the inhalation tubes is pneumatically connected to a respective one of the first connection elements along a first connecting direction, each second connection element having a second electrical contact element that is positioned and arranged such that electrical connection with a respective one of the first electrical contact elements is possible in both of two ways, one when the pneumatic connection of the respective ventilation tube to the liquid container is effected after the liquid container has been inserted into the housing and the other when the liquid container is inserted into the housing after the pneumatic connection of the ventilation tubes to the liquid container has been effected.

摘要: A respiratory therapy system configured to deliver gases to a patient can have a non-sealed gas flow generating arrangement configured to deliver a high flow of positive gas to an airway of a patient and a negative flow of gas away from an airway of the patient. The positive and negative flows of gas can be generated simultaneously. The flow of positive and negative gases reduces exhaled gases in anatomical dead spaces of the patient.

摘要: A cushion (26) for a patient interface device includes a support wall portion having a first edge and an opposite second edge, and a sealing flap (40) extending in a cantilevered fashion inwardly from the second edge and toward a longitudinal axis of the cushion such that when the patient interface device is donned a portion of the face of the user will engage the top outer surface of the sealing flap to form a seal. The sealing flap includes a corrugated portion (56), wherein the corrugated portion commences at a distal edge of the sealing flap and extends toward a proximal edge of the sealing flap along at least a portion of a width of the sealing flap. The corrugated portion includes a series of alternating furrows and ridges.
