摘要: A compact voltage sensor with stable characteristics is provided. A measuring beam that is incident from an optical fiber is branched into first and second modulation-inducing waveguides of a wave branching/combining section within an optical integrated circuit. Phase changes of opposite sign are induced in the measuring beams propagating within the first and second modulation waveguides by applying voltages of mutually opposite sign to modulation-inducing electrodes, to induce a phase difference between the two. By reflecting the measuring beams from a reflective surface, propagating them back in the opposite direction within the first and second modulation waveguides, and passing them through the optical intensity modulation section again, thus applying a further phase modulation thereto, the phase difference between the measuring beams proceeding in the opposite direction within the first and second modulation waveguides can be made to be substantially twice the phase difference of the measuring beams before they are reflected by the reflective surface. The sensor also has a function to protect a sensor section thereof from dielectric breakdown caused by the accidental input of a high voltage.

摘要: A system for providing input to a computer comprises a touchscreen apparatus for generating a grid of horizontal and vertical light beams and producing a set of output signals, each indicating whether a corresponding one of the light beams strikes an object. A scanning device repeatedly scans the states of the output signals, stores data representing the last scanned state of each output signal, and transmits a first interrupt signal to the computer whenever the state of any one of the output signals changes. In response to the interrupt signal, the computer reads the stored scan data, determines whether the data indicates that a horizontal and a vertical light beam is striking an object, and if so, sets parameter values to identify the horizontal and vertical light beams. In response to a second interrupt signal periodically generated by a clock, the computer determines whether or not the parameter values have remained constant for a predetermined period, and if so executes a routine responsive to the parameter values.

摘要: A signal sampling system includes a combined digital and analog acquisition time base for accurately sampling and displaying an extremely short duration electrical event superimposed on a long time duration signal. The signal sampling system of the present invention is intended for use in stimulus-response situations, and both stimulus and response signals are synchronized with the clock of the digital portion of the time base. The system may be operated under microprocessor control, providing both flexibility and programmability, in turn permitting not only acquisition of waveforms that start and stop at arbitrary points with extreme precision, but signal averaging or smoothing as well.

摘要: An organ array comprises a plurality of optical fibers each cut to a different length with the differences between functionally adjacent (i.e., lengthwise consecutive) fibers being uniform. The fibers are arranged in a bundle so that one set of ends of the fibers is terminated in an input plane and the opposite set of ends is terminated in an output plane. Described are several embodiments utilizing the organ array including a passive spatial scanner, optical memory systems, an image converter, an optical sampling oscilloscope, and an x-y coordinate locater.

摘要: The disclosure includes an electro-optical sensor. The electro-optical sensor includes a test signal input to receive a test signal from a device under test (DUT). A bias circuit is employed to generate a bias signal. The electro-optical sensor also includes a Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) that employs an optical input, an optical output, and a bias input. The MZM is configured to receive an optical carrier signal via the optical input. The MZM also receives both the test signal and the bias signal on the bias input. The MZM modulates the test signal from the bias input onto the optical carrier to generate an optical signal while operating in a mode selected by the bias signal. The MZM also outputs the optical signal over the optical output.
