摘要: Disclosed herein is a method of making a light emitting device comprising an LED and a molded silicon-containing encapsulant. The method includes contacting the LED with a photopolymerizable composition containing a silicon-containing resin having silicon-bonded hydrogen and aliphatic unsaturation and two metal-containing catalysts. One catalyst may be activated by actinic radiation, and the second by heat but not the actinic radiation. Polymerization of the photopolymerizable composition to form the encapsulant may be carried out by selectively activating the different catalysts. At some point before polymerization is complete, a mold is used to impart a predetermined shape to the encapsulant.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a method of making a light emitting device comprising an LED and a molded silicon-containing encapsulant. The method includes contacting the LED with a photopolymerizable composition containing a silicon-containing resin having silicon-bonded hydrogen and aliphatic unsaturation and a metal-containing catalyst that may be activated by actinic radiation. Photopolymerization of the photopolymerizable composition is then carried out to form the encapsulant. 摘要: A display system has a controlled transmission mirror disposed between the light sources and the display panel. The controlled transmission mirror includes a light-diverting input coupling element facing the light sources, a light-diverting output coupling element facing the display panel and a multilayer reflector between the input and output coupling elements. The controlled transmission mirror laterally spreads the light, making the illumination of the panel more uniform. The controlled transmission mirror may include a transparent substrate between the input and output coupling elements for additional light spreading. The light sources may be positioned within the controlled transmission mirror, rather than behind it. The output coupling element can be polarization sensitive so that the output light is polarized.

摘要: A molding operation produces an extractor array by providing a mold having a plurality of cavities therein, each cavity being adapted to form an extractor suitable for coupling to an LED die; filling the mold with a plurality of glass particles; heating the glass particles above glass transition temperatures thereof so that the particles are reshaped to conform to the cavity shapes; and forming a land layer that extends between the cavities. The land layer maintains the extractors in a fixed spatial relationship with each other for subsequent handling or processing, such as a simultaneous polishing operation or in attaching the extractor array to a corresponding LED array.

Exemplary roll of film includes an oriented optical film characterized by an effective orientation axis. The oriented optical film comprises only one birefringent polymeric material, at least one birefringent material and at least one isotropic material, or a first birefringent material and a second birefringent material, the birefringent materials characterized by effective orientation axes along the MD. The optical film has a width of greater than 0.3 m and a length a length greater than 10 m.
