Abstract: An anchoring system and related methods are provided for treatment of dilated hearts and of functional valve regurgitation, the system comprising one or more self-expandable or manually expandable anchors and associated devices for fixating a valve splint within the heart. For example, a spade-shaped assembly may be configured to be deployed in a right ventricle of the heart and to stabilize a puncturing instrument to puncture the septum. Various puncturing instruments may also be part of the anchoring system, including one or more of a flexible needle having a multiplicity of slits disposed along the length of the needle, a trocar catheter with a retractable head, and a catheter needle having a blunt introducer to protect nearby tissue within the heart during advancing a guidewire. A cutter catheter and puncture location catheter may also be part of the system and be used during treatment.

Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve has an inner frame and an outer frame that is sutured to the inner frame. The outer frame has an atrial portion and a ventricular portion. The inner frame has a leaflet structure positioned between first and second ends of the metallic inner frame. The prosthetic heart valve has an inflow end and an outflow end, and is radially expandable and collapsible. The prosthetic heart valve has a plurality of tissue-engaging elements positioned along an exterior surface of the outer frame. The outer frame is configured such that in the expanded state the atrial portion of the outer frame extends upwardly beyond an inflow end of the inner frame, and a diameter of the outer frame increases from a first diameter at the outflow end of the prosthetic heart valve to a second diameter moving in an upstream direction toward the inflow end.

Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve has a frame including a plurality of strut members, the frame being radially expandable and collapsible between a collapsed state and an expanded state, the frame having an inflow end and an outflow end and defining a longitudinal axis. A leaflet structure is situated at least partially within the frame. A covering is disposed around an exterior of the frame and includes a cushioning layer, a first strip of material coupled to the cushioning layer and folded to encapsulate apices of the strut members of the inflow end of the frame, and a second strip of material coupled to the cushioning layer and folded to encapsulate apices of the strut members of the outflow end of the frame. The cushioning layer includes texturized filaments that provide compressible volume and a plush surface to the cushioning layer when the frame is in the expanded state.

Abstract: Docking devices for docking a prosthetic valve at a native valve of a heart can include a coiled docking anchor and a retrieval suture. The docking device and retrieval suture can be configured for improved retention and retrieval of the docking device after deployment. The docking devices can have an end portion with a central axis. Abstract: A docking device for docking a prosthetic valve at a native valve of a heart includes a coiled body and a high friction sleeve. The coiled body has an upper region, a central region, and a lower region. The docking device is configured to be implanted at the native valve with the upper region positioned in a first chamber of the heart, the lower region positioned in a second chamber of the heart, and the central region positioned to extend around a plurality of leaflets of the native valve. A high friction sleeve covers at least a portion of the central region. The high friction sleeve comprises a material configured to generate more friction between the prosthetic valve and the docking device than an exterior surface of the coiled body.

Abstract: A prosthetic valve assembly includes a prosthetic valve and an anchoring frame. The prosthetic valve includes a valve frame and a valve structure. The valve frame includes a plurality of struts and is expandable from a compressed configuration to an expanded configuration. The valvular structure includes leaflets. The valvular structure is disposed radially within and is coupled to the valve frame. The valvular structure is configured to allow blood flow through the prosthetic valve assembly in a first direction and to restrict blood flow through the prosthetic valve assembly in a second direction. The anchoring frame includes a plurality of struts. The anchoring frame is disposed radially outwardly from and is coupled to the valve frame. The struts of the anchoring frame comprise one or more tissue-engaging elements configured for contacting native tissue to help secure the prosthetic valve assembly at an implantation location.

Abstract: An implantable prosthetic device can include a frame that is radially expandable and compressible between a radially compressed configuration and a radially expanded configuration. The frame can have a first set of a plurality of struts extending in a first direction, and a second set of a plurality of struts extending in a second direction, and each strut of the first set of struts can be pivotably connected to at least one strut of the second set of struts. Each strut can be curved helically with respect to a first, longitudinal axis of the frame, and each strut can be curved with respect to a second axis that is perpendicular to the first, longitudinal axis of the frame.
