An optical disc apparatus has the following arrangements. Specifically, the optical disc apparatus includes a lock pin and a lock arm. The lock pin is disposed on a side of an inner surface of a case of the apparatus, being tapered in a protruding direction thereof. The lock arm is disposed on a side of a tray of the apparatus. The lock arm, urged by a resilient member, includes a hook portion to be engaged with an inclined surface of the lock pin. When the tray has moved to a predetermined position within the case, the lock arm is engaged with the lock pin, so that the tray is held in position at the predetermined position. When an impact force equal to, or more than, a predetermined value is applied to the optical disc apparatus, the hook portion of the lock arm is displaced in the protruding direction of the lock pin along the inclined surface of the lock pin, thereby disengaged from the lock pin. Engagement of the tray is thereby released.

A display device comprises a display panel having a predetermined effective display region PS, a display screen, and a magnifying optical system including a first inverting optical system constituted by a first lens array in which a plurality of first lenses corresponding to the display panel are arrayed and a second inverting optical system constituted by a second lens array in which a plurality of second lenses corresponding to the first lenses are arrayed. The magnifying optical system constitutes a plurality of channels for forming on the display screen a magnified erect image for a display image on the display panel through the corresponding first and second lenses. The magnifying optical system is constructed so as to form on the display screen an image of an image point on the display panel through at least three of the channels.

A front surface of the opposite electrode of a liquid crystal display panel is formed in a curved shape. The relation between the reflecting surface of the pixel electrode and the curved surface of the opposite substrate is defined so that a leaving direction of the light that is reflected by the first face of the opposite substrate is different from a leaving direction of light that is emitted from the first face of the opposite substrate after having been reflected by the pixel electrodes through the liquid crystal layer. Thus, undesired light on the front surface of the opposite substrate is separated from light that is displayed. Consequently, an image free of dazzling and deterioration of contrast ratio due to undesired reflected light can be obtained with a high contrast ratio. In a display apparatus containing the reflection type liquid crystal display, an incident surface to a dichroic prism is an inclined surface including a curved surface, not a surface that is perpendicular to the optical axis. Thus, signal light that is reflected on each reflection type liquid crystal display panel and that is displayed can be separated from undesired light that is reflected on the surface of the dichroic prism. Thus, an image with a high quality, and a high contrast ratio can be displayed.

A solid state image sensor has a photosensing region formed on a substrate. The photosensing region has a plurality of photocells for receiving an incident image. The photosensing region is capable of changing image sampling modes by relatively shifting image sampling points for the incident image. In the photosensing region, a plurality of first transfer elements are formed and the first transfer elements receive the signal charges from adjoining photocells and transfer them out. Further, a temporary storage region is formed on the substrate having a plurality of second transfer elements therein for each of the first transfer elements. Each of the second transfer elements has a capacity to accommodate all of the signal charges of a corresponding first transfer elements which are read out from the photocells at the same time. A plurality of gate elements are respectively formed between each of the first transfer elements and their corresponding plurality of second transfer elements. Each gate elements changes transfer direction from one of the first transfer elements between at least two of the second transfer elements based on the sampling mode for the incident image. Third transfer elements are formed adjacent to the temporary storage region. The third transfer elements repeat a readout cycle of receiving the signal charges from a plurality of second transfer elements and then transferring them out.
