A method of applying a sealing glass composition to a substrate comprising the steps of providing a metal substrate, providing a supporting sheet having a front surface coated with a releasing agent, depositing a sealing glass composition onto the front surface of the releasable sheet, drying the sealing glass composition to form a sealing glass composition decal, removing the sealing glass composition decal from the front surface of the supporting sheet, and placing the dried sealing glass composition decal onto a metal substrate, is provided.
Abstract:
An economical and environmentally friendly method for producing waxes. In particular, the methods use thermolytic degradation concurrently with a distillation process to obtaining distilled waxes from recycled polyethylene. The resulting waxes have desirable properties, such as reduced molecular weight and narrow polydispersity, that makes the waxes useful in various applications.
Abstract:
Described is a class of symmetrical and asymmetrical N-alkyl lactam ethers. One preferred ether is bis-N-ethyl pyrrolidone ether. Preferred compositions and uses of the ethers are in performance chemicals, personal care, and pharmaceutical fields, where they function a variety of roles, including as a solvent, solubilizer, freezing point depressor, diluent, extracting agent, cleaning agent, degreaser, absorbent and/or dispersion agent.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to am aqueous epoxy resin composition, and to an aqueous epoxy resin composition which is able to contain a large amount of water because it uses an epoxy resin and a coagulant and thereby allows an emulsifier and water to be stably adsorbed and captured on tangled particle surfaces of the coagulant. The aqueous epoxy resin composition according to the present invention comprises a highly compatible formulation producing a good cross-linking bond in a curing reaction with a curing agent and hence it can effect functions including those of a coating agent, a primer agent, a mortar agent and an adhesive agent in a two-part formulation, and it entails a formulation using absolutely no volatile organic compounds in large amounts as is the case with prior-art epoxy resin composition and hence it is environment-friendly and can also markedly reduce production costs.
Abstract:
Improved methods for preparing sulfonated block polymers with acyl sulfates in non-halogenated aliphatic solvents are provided. The methods include the sulfonation of a precursor block polymer with an acyl sulfate in a reaction mixture further comprising at least one non-halogenated aliphatic solvent to form a sulfonated block polymer, wherein the initial concentration of the precursor block polymer is in the range of from about 0.1 wt % to a concentration that is below the limiting concentration of the precursor block polymer based on the total weight of the reaction mixture. A sulfonation degree of greater than about 1.0 milliequivalent sulfonic acid per gram sulfonated block polymer can be achieved substantially free of polymer precipitation and free of disabling gelation.

A pressure-sensitive sheet construction having particular utility as a durable, reusable bulletin board surface, comprises a substrate bonded to at least one surface thereof a binder material; partially embedded in the exposed surface of the binder and protruding therefrom are inherently tacky elastomeric copolymer microspheres.
Abstract:
A vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer and uses of the same are provided. The vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer includes a structural unit derived from ethylene and a structural unit derived from vinyl acetate. The 1H-NMR spectrum of the vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer has an integral value B of signals from 0.5 ppm to 1.0 ppm and an integral value A of signals from 4.6 ppm to 5.0 ppm, and the value of B/3A ranges from 0.070 to 0.120. The 1H-NMR spectrum is measured by using dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an adhesive resin composition that has excellent adhesiveness and durability, a method for bonding adherends, and an adhesive resin film. More specifically, the present invention relates to an adhesive resin composition containing more than 50 parts by mass and 99.5 parts by mass or less in a solid content of an acid-modified polyolefin resin having a melting point of 50 to 100° C., 0.5 parts by mass or more and less than 50 parts by mass in a solid content of an epoxy resin having a novolac structure, and an organic solvent; a method for bonding adherends including forming an adhesive layer on a first adherend by applying the adhesive resin composition and drying, and then bonding a second adherend to the adhesive layer by laminating the second adherend on the adhesive layer; and an adhesive resin film including a first adhesive layer, a substrate layer, and a second adhesive layer in that order, in which any one or both of the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer include(s) the adhesive resin composition.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to preparation of heterogeneous mixtures of (carboxylated) vinyl ester/ethylene dispersions, such as vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) dispersions with polyamideamine-epichlorohydrin (PAE) wet strength resins having a reduced amount of halogenated organic compounds, such as less than 1500 ppm. The dispersion offers extremely low free and bound formaldehyde levels combined with wet tensile strength for use in non-woven textile and paper applications.
