Abstract:
Methods of passivating a metal surface are described, the methods comprising the steps of exposing the metal surface to a silicon-containing passivation material, evacuating the metal surface, exposing the treated surface to a gas composition, having a concentration of reactive gas that is greater than an intended reactive gas concentration of gas to be transported by the metal surface, evacuating the metal surface to remove substantially all of the gas composition to enable maintenance of an increased shelf-life, low concentration reactive gas at an intended concentration, and exposing the metal surface to the reactive gas at the intended reactive gas concentration. Manufactured products, high stability fluids, and methods of making same are also described.
Abstract:
A dissimilar joint structure 10 according to the present invention is provided at a first metal member 6 and a second metal member 7 which are made of dissimilar metals to each other. The dissimilar joint structure 10 couples the first metal member 6 and the second metal member 7. An inserting groove 8a is formed at the first metal member 6. The second metal member 11 includes an inserting portion 9 which is able to be inserted into the inserting groove 8a. The first metal member 6 is joined to the inserting portion 9 with the inserting portion 9 inserted into the inserting groove 8a.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for dockside regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are described herein. The methods include providing LNG from a LNG carrier to a regasification vessel. The LNG may be regasified on the regasification vessel. The regasified natural gas may be discharged with a high pressure arm to a dock and delivered onshore. The regasification vessel may be moored to the dock. The LNG carrier may be moored to the regasification vessel or the dock.
Abstract:
An LNG carrier for transporting LNG from one location to another that includes a vaporizer on board said LNG carrier for vaporizing the LNG to a gaseous state, one or more heat exchangers at least partially submerged in seawater, an intermediate fluid circulating between said vaporizer and said heat exchanger, and one or more pumps for circulation said intermediate fluid is disclosed. A method of regasifying LNG while on board an LNG carrier is provided that includes circulating an intermediate fluid between a vaporizer on board the LNG carrier and a submerged or partially submerged heat exchanger, heating the LNG to a temperature above its vaporization temperature using heat energy carried by said intermediate fluid and heating the intermediate fluid, using heat energy supplied by the submerged or partially submerged heat exchanger.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquefied natural gas composition. The composition contains methane, ethane and propane and butane. The composition contains a substantial amount of butane while being substantially free of hydrocarbon molecules larger than butane.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for containing LNG. The apparatus includes an LNG tank containing liquid phase LNG and boil-off gas of LNG, and an circulating device. The circulating device includes an intake port and a discharge port. The circulating device further includes an flowing pathway from the intake port to the discharge port that does not include a forced LNG liquefying device. The intake port is located in an upper portion of the LNG tank, and the discharge port is located in a lower portion of the LNG tank substantially lower than the intake port. The circulating device is configured to suction, through the intake port, boil-off gas from the upper portion of the LNG tank and to discharge boil-off gas, through the discharge port, to the lower portion of the LNG tank.
Abstract:
A storage vessel comprises a condenser for condensing boil-off vapor by direct heat exchange with cryogenic liquid feed to the vessel. The condenser comprises a packed arrangement of vapor-liquid contact packing that comprises a top end portion and a bottom end portion. At least said top end portion is open to the vapor space to allow entry of boil-off vapor into the arrangement. The bottom end portion is in fluid flow communication with the lower portion of the storage vessel. One advantage of the invention is that the condenser is open to the vapor space of the storage vessel thereby allowing boil-off vapor to be drawn into the condenser by the condensation action of the vapor.
Abstract:
A method for vaporizing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) stream and recovering heavier hydrocarbons from the LNG utilizing a heat transfer fluid is disclosed.
Abstract:
An integrated ship mounted system for loading a gas stream, separating heavier hydrocarbons, compressing the gas, cooling the gas, mixing the gas with a desiccant, blending it with a liquid carrier or solvent, and then cooling the mix to processing, storage and transportation conditions. After transporting the product to its destination, a hydrocarbon processing train and liquid displacement method is provided to unload the liquid from the pipeline and storage system, separate the liquid carrier, and transfer the gas stream to a storage or transmission system.
Abstract:
There are provided scalable video encoders and decoders and corresponding methods for scalable video encoding and decoding. A scalable video encoder includes an encoder for selectively using spatial intra prediction to code, on a macroblock adaptive basis, an enhancement layer residue generated between an enhancement layer macroblock and a corresponding upsampled base layer macroblock.
