Abstract:
Systems and methods to provide a navigated-shopping service are discussed. In an example, a method for navigated-shopping can include receiving a destination location, accessing a route to the destination, displaying the route with indications of a plurality of items for purchase, receiving selection of a selected item, and purchasing the selected item. The plurality of items for purchase can be within a predefined distance of at least one point along the route. The selection of the selected item can include selection of a retail location of a plurality of retail locations along the route.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for associating location data from one or more unique sources. The place and time of a unique location enabled device are associated with stored demographic information relating to the particular place and particular time. The place and time of the unique location enabled device are associated with a historical record of past locations and time of locations that the device has been. Based on the association of demographical information and historical information, the unique location enable device is assigned to one or more groups or tribes. The location of all members of the group or tribe can be aggregated and exported for further analysis or display, thereby showing all group or tribe members at a particular time and place.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for collecting and using user-contributed map data. In one implementation, a computer-implemented method is provided for collecting maneuver-specific annotations. According to the method, a user is presented with a set of computer-generated driving directions comprising a plurality of maneuvers. In association with presenting to the user the set of driving directions, the method presents to the user an option to submit an annotation for one of the plurality of maneuvers. In response to presenting the option to the user, the annotation is received from the user and stored in association with an identification of the one of the plurality of maneuvers. The stored annotation may be incorporated in the set of computer-generated driving directions.
Abstract:
A user, such as the driver of a vehicle, to retrieve information related to a point of interest (POI) near the vehicle by pointing at the POI or performing some other gesture to identify the POI. Gesture recognition is performed on the gesture to generate a target region that includes the POI that the user identified. After generating the target region, information about the POI can be retrieved by querying a server-based POI service with the target region or by searching in a micromap that is stored locally. The retrieved POI information can then be provided to the user via a display and/or speaker in the vehicle. This process beneficially allows a user to rapidly identify and retrieve information about a POI near the vehicle without having to navigate a user interface by manipulating a touchscreen or physical buttons.
Abstract:
Various embodiments relate to computing and displaying a safe mobility area for a user that allows the user to arrive at a final destination by a certain time after visiting one or more points of interest that are within the safe mobility area.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a navigation device having a display device and a processing device coupled thereto and configured to present on the display device an indicator of a legend location, determine at least one travel metric corresponding to at least one legend location, and present the at least one travel metric in tandem with the indicator of the legend location. The at least one travel metric includes one or more of the following: a travel route distance to the legend location from a current physical location, an estimated time of arrival at the legend location, and an estimated duration of travel to the legend location from the present physical location. A corresponding method is also provided.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to generating and providing route options for an autonomous vehicle. For example, a user may identify a destination, and in response the vehicle's computer may provide routing options to the user. The routing options may be based on typical navigating considerations such as the total travel time, travel distance, fuel economy, etc. Each routing option may include not only an estimated total time, but also information regarding whether and which portions of the route may be maneuvered under the control of the vehicle alone (fully autonomous), a combination of the vehicle and the driver (semiautonomous), or the driver alone. The time of the longest stretch of driving associated with the autonomous mode as well as map information indicating portions of the routes associated with the type of maneuvering control may also be provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method, system, and recording medium for connecting a public transportation route service and a map service. A map providing method includes providing a mode switching function at a first service that provides a public transportation map and a second service that provides a road map, and switching a service mode to the public transportation map or the road map through interconnection between the first service and the second service in response to executing the mode switching function.
Abstract:
A method for accommodation location selection by an accommodation search system includes receiving a location of interest from a user device; providing a list of accommodations to the user device, the list of accommodations based at least in part on the location of interest; providing a command to the user device to display the list of accommodations and the location of interest in a map configuration; receiving an indication of a selected accommodation from the user device; determining a path from the selected accommodation to the location of interest; and providing a command to the user device to display the path from the selected accommodation to the location of interest.
Abstract:
Some embodiments provide a mapping application that displays a transit map including a group of lines that each corresponds to at least one transit route and, for each line, a set of transit-related features located along the line. The mapping application receives a selection of a transit line and, in response to the selection, modifies the transit map to emphasize the selected transit line and the set of features located along the selected transit line.
