Abstract:
The addition of high throughput capability elements to beacon frames and peer link action frames in wireless mesh networks enable the utilization of desirable features without further modifications to the network. Rules can be established for high throughput mesh point protection in a mesh network, Space-time Block Code (STBC) operations and 20/40 MHz operation selections. However, features such as PSMP (power save multi-poll) and PCO (phased coexistence operations) are barred from implementation to prevent collisions.
Abstract:
An energy-scavenging interface includes first and second switches connected in series between an input and reference, and third and fourth switches connected in series between the input and an output. A control circuit closes the first and second switches and opens the third switch for a first time interval to store charge in a storage element. A scaled copy of a peak value of the charging current is obtained. The control circuit then opens the first switch and closes the third and fourth switches to generate an output signal as long as the value in current of the output signal is higher than the value of said scaled copy of the peak value.
Abstract:
An embodiment of a method and an apparatus for manufacturing lead frames are described. For example, a coating layer is formed on one or more predefined portions of the surface of the substrate of the lead frame by delimiting the predefined portions by means of screen printing. The employment of screen printing may allow obtaining large amounts of lead frames with excellent electronic and structural properties in a quick and cost-effective way.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a switching power converter having a power transistor controlled by a controller. The controller includes a multiplier that produces a voltage reference signal. A subtraction circuit subtracts a capacitor signal, which is based on the voltage reference signal, from a sensing signal that is representative of the current flowing through the power transistor. A comparator compares the voltage reference signal to the output of the subtraction circuit, and a driving circuit drives the power transistor based on the comparison resulting in a high power factor and low total harmonic distortion for the converter.
Abstract:
An energy-harvesting system includes a transducer to convert environmental energy into a harvesting electrical signal. A storage element stores electrical energy derived from conversion of the harvested environmental energy. A harvesting interface supplies an electrical charging signal to the storage element. The harvesting interface is selectively connected to the storage element in response to a control signal. The control signal causes the connection when the harvesting electrical signal exceeds a threshold. Conversely, the control signal causes the disconnection when the harvesting electrical signal is less than the threshold.
Abstract:
An electrical-energy harvesting system envisages a transducer for converting energy from an environmental energy source into a transduced signal, an electrical energy harvesting interface for receiving the transduced signal and for supplying a harvesting signal, and an energy storage element coupled to the electrical energy harvesting interface for receiving the harvesting signal. The electrical-energy harvesting system also includes a voltage converter connected to the electrical energy harvesting interface for generating a regulated voltage. The harvesting interface samples an open-circuit voltage value of the transduced signal, generates an optimized voltage value starting from the open-circuit voltage value, and generates an upper threshold voltage and a lower threshold voltage on the basis of the optimized voltage value. The harvesting interface controls the voltage converter in switching mode so that the harvesting signal has a value between the upper and lower threshold voltages in at least one operating condition.
Abstract:
A capacitive touch screen of e.g., a mobile communications device such as a smart phone or tablet is operated by producing a capacitance map of capacitance values for the screen, wherein the capacitance values are indicative of locations of the screen exposed to touch by a user, and by identifying locations of the screen exposed to touch by a user by comparing the capacitance values against settings of sensing thresholds. Descriptor processing is applied to the capacitance map to extract a set of descriptors indicative of said screen being in one of a plurality of different operating conditions. A set of rules is applied to these descriptors to identify one of a plurality of different operating conditions, and selecting the setting of sensing thresholds as a function of the operating condition thus identified.

Methods of using same are also provided.

An embodiment of a motor controller includes a motor driver and a signal conditioner. The motor driver is operable to generate a motor-coil drive signal having a first component at a first frequency, and the signal conditioner is coupled to the motor driver and is operable to alter the first component. For example, if the first component of the motor-coil drive signal causes the motor to audibly vibrate (e.g., “whine”), then the signal conditioner may alter the amplitude or phase of the first component to reduce the vibration noise to below a threshold level.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit card includes a substrate and an integrated circuit carried by the substrate. A first sector is delimited by a first weakening line on the substrate, with the first sector being able to be separated from the substrate. A second sector is delimited by a second weakening line inside the first sector, with the second sector being able to be separated from the substrate and having the integrated circuit thereon. A disposable frame-piece is defined between the first and second weakening lines of the first and second sectors, and has a ring form. A breakage lug is arranged with respect to the disposable frame-piece to break the disposable frame-piece so that it is no longer intact, during separation of the second sector from the substrate.
