摘要: Fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems. The fill stations may be opened and closed to accept a reservoir and to allow fluid to be introduced into the reservoir for use with personal pump systems. The fill stations may hold the reservoir at a tilt relative to an underlying surface and may discourage overfilling of the reservoir. The filling stations may also include viewing windows having fluid lines marked thereon for indicating volume of fluid within the reservoir.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Some embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. The device comprises a capsule sized to be swallowed and pass through the intestinal tract. The capsule can include at least one guide tube, one or more tissue penetrating members positioned in the guide tube, a delivery member, an actuating mechanism and a release element. The release element degrades upon exposure to various conditions in the intestine so as to release and actuate the actuating mechanism. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.

摘要: A drug infusion system includes a drug delivery module which delivers a drug in each of a series of sequential time slots over a period of time. The drug delivery module is controlled by a controller which is configured to cause the drug delivery module to deliver said drug in the series of sequential time slots in a manner defined by a formula in which a quantitative characteristic of drug delivery in each time slot is a function of a past drug delivery profile and at least one of: a) a medical professional-provided profile, b) a patient-chosen parameter, and c) a non-variable parameter. The formula may be a function of a medical professional-provided profile and a non-variable parameter may be a parameter chosen by a medical professional. The past drug delivery profile may include a drug delivery parameter in a previous time slot. The patient-chosen parameter may include an input from the patient characterizing the patient's condition.

摘要: A catheter system that can be used for concurrent fluid infusion and aspiration in humans, animals and biological material, at a wide range of flow rates, without any blockage problems. The system has devices that control the infused liquid's pressure changes accordingly to the aspirated liquid's pressure changes, in order to allow accurate and safe fluid exchange flow control and create changes of pressures at the catheter's tip that do not allow the catheter's blockage.

摘要: A method of dispensing fluid includes three processes. A first one of these processes includes pumping fluid into a resilient variable-volume dispensing chamber. The dispensing chamber is in series with a normally present finite fluid impedance and an output. The impedance is sufficient so as to cause expansion of the dispensing chamber as it receives pumped fluid even while some fluid flows through the output. Another one of these processes includes repeatedly measuring a parameter related to volume of the dispensing chamber over time. A third one of these processes includes controlling the pumping of fluid based on repeated measurements of the parameter to produce a desired fluid flow through the output. A corresponding system for dispensing fluid implements these processes.

摘要: The present invention is a system and method of pre-delivery drug identification. The system and method is implemented where drugs are being administered, such as in a hospital or clinic, and identifies the drug being administered to the patient before the drug reaches the patient. After identification, the system and method is configured to cross-reference the identified drug with the patient's prescription and allergy information, and to prevent delivery to the patient, if necessary.
