Abstract:
A method of producing a plastic sheet equipped with electrical conductors is disclosed. The method that enables automatic production includes (a) fixing in a frame an electrically conducting wire in a sinusoidal, square wave pattern and in a single plane, (b) bringing into contact the single plane and a surface of a plastic sheet under conditions calculated to bond the plastic to said conductor, and (c) removing the frame.
Abstract:
A method of making a plastic molding is disclosed. The multi-step method entails applying a metallic layer 20 to 150 nm thick to a translucent plastic film having a thickness of 50 to 750 μm, removing part of the metallic layer, and applying to the metallized side of the film an adhesive layer 5 to 50 μm in thickness to obtain a product, and injection molding the product with a translucent thermoplastic. The plastic molding thus made is suitable for the preparation of keys, fittings, trim strips, reflectors, keyboards, casings, shields, advertising panels and packaging items and identification cards.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a transparent thermoplastic material, containing 0.0001 to 2 wt. % of substantially flat metal identification platelets with a largest length elongation of less than 200 μm and a thickness of 2-10 μm, a round or n-angled shape where n≧4, wherein the metal identification platelets do not have any recesses or have recesses that lie substantially in the center of the metal identification platelet, do not come closer than 20 μm to the circumferential outer edge of the metal identification platelet, and do not account for more than 30% of the surface area of the metal identification platelet. The invention also relates to the production thereof and the use for producing films for personalization of a card layer composite and data carriers in card form, especially smart cards, magnetic strip cards, identification cards and the like.
Abstract:
A document (2) containing: electronic components (14) and/or diffractive security elements; at least one protective layer (4, 5) being arranged on one side or two protective layers (4, 5) being arranged on both sides of the electronic components (14) and/or of the diffractive security element, said protective layers being formed of a first base polymer, polymer layers (8, 9, 12, 13), being formed of a second base polymer being different from the first base polymer, into which the electronic components (14) and/or the diffractive security element with the protective layers (4, 5) are laminated; and adhesive layers with a latent-reactive adhesive (10, 11) being arranged at least between the polymer layers (8, 9, 12, 13) and the protective layers (4, 5), and wherein the core layer or protective layers are formed of a thermoplastic elastomer.
Abstract:
A process for producing a laminate that exhibits an orange peel effect having a wavescan DOI value of 5 to 80 as determined by BYK Gardner apparatus is disclosed. The process comprise a) obtaining a carrier layer a first surface of which exhibits specifically measured roughness value and b) applying a sealing layer to the first surface, the protective layer positioned on the side remote from the carrier film. The inventive laminate is particularly suitable in automotive applications.
Abstract:
The invention relates to layer structures for ID cards on which information can be written by laser engraving and which have an additional layer that is applied to the card body after the laser engraving and restricts or completely prevents subsequent writing on the card by means of laser engraving, and consequently prevents falsification of the identifying information contained, and relates to a method for blocking the laser engraving writability of layer structures on which information can be written by laser engraving.
Abstract:
Described is a molded plastic article which includes a barrier film. The molded plastic article is prepared by a process which involves: (a) providing a barrier film comprising at least one polymeric layer, the barrier film having a first surface and a second surface; (b) placing the barrier film in a mold such that the first surface of the barrier film is in contact with at least a portion of the interior surfaces of the mold; (c) injecting a polymer (e.g., a molten thermoplastic polymer) into the mold, the injected polymer contacting the second surface of the barrier film; and (d) removing the molded plastic article from the mold. Also described are molded articles according to the present invention, which include, for example, plastic containers, plastic fuel tanks, plastic storage units, plastic fascias and plastic motor vehicle interior cladding materials.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an at least single-layer, tubular, biaxially stretched, biodegradable and compostable food casing, in particular a sausage casing, at least one layer consisting substantially of a thermoplastically processable, biodegradable polymer.
Abstract:
An at least 4-layer co-extruded, biaxially stretched, tubular seamless casing for sausages to be heated in water and cooking-sausages, having improved tearing properties in the filled state associated with a decreased tendency to burst open when the sausage product is first cut, containing at least two layers composed predominantly of aliphatic polyamide, which form the inner and outer surfaces of the tube, and at least two additional layers, which are enclosed by the inner and outer polyamide layers, with at least one of the enclosed layers acting as a water vapor barrier and having the structure of a polyolefin and at least one other of the enclosed layers acting as an oxygen barrier and consisting mainly of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers, the quotient of the tear resistance in the transverse direction to the tear resistance in the longitudinal direction lying between about 0.65 and 0.85, with the degree of surface stretching of the film product being between 8 and 11. The process of preparation is also set forth.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of a plastic film as a printable medium in colour laser printing, to special plastic films for use in colour laser printing, and to their application in the production of security documents or valuable documents and plastic mouldings.
