A lubricant composition is disclosed which provides good antiwear characteristics in air at .gtoreq.100.degree. C. and exhibits a low friction coefficient, said composition comprising:(A) a fluorosilicone oil;(B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of ferrocene, 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino) ferrocene and an N,N-disalicylidene-diaminoalkane in which the alkane portion has 3-6 carbon atoms; and(C) at least one phosphorous compound selected from the group consisting of triphenylphosphine, tri-o-tolylphosphine, 1,5-bis-diphenylphosphinopentane and a dialkyldithiophosphate salt in which the alkyl groups have 1-14 carbon atoms, wherein said components (B) and said component (C) is each present at a level of 0.01 to 0.3 percent based on the total weight of said composition.

A cotelomer of --CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 -- (VDF) units and CF.sub.2 CF(CF.sub.3)-- (HFP) units characterized in that the HEP units comprise at least 33% of all VDF and HFP units in the cotelomer combined. Also claimed is a process for preparing a cotelomer in the liquid state comprising reacting (A) a bromine geminal telogen having the general formula RC(R')Br.sub.2 wherein R and R' are selected from the group consisting of F and perfluorinated alkyl radicals having 1 to 8 carbon atoms; (B) 1,1-difluoroethene, and (C) hexafluoropropene, the molar ratio of said components (A):(B):(C) being x:1:1 to x:1:5, in which x is 1 to 5.

Films, layers, tapes, plates, and similar structures of metal or of plastic materials, coated with thin polyfluorocarbon films. These films, tapes, etc., are characterized in that no other materials are interposed; the polyfluorocarbon films are adherent and not porous, and have controlled wettability characteristics. The polyfluorocarbons have the formula (CF.sub.x).sub.n, wherein x is within the range of from 0.3 to 2.0, and are directly obtained on the substrate by the plasma-polymerization of gaseous streams of C.sub.2 F.sub.6 and H.sub.2 ; C.sub.2 F.sub.6 and C.sub.2 F.sub.4 ; CF.sub.4 and H.sub.2 ; CF.sub.4 and C.sub.2 F.sub.4 ; or of C.sub.2 F.sub.4. The metal substrate may be, e.g., Al, Cu, Fe, tin-coated Fe, Si, noble metals and alloys thereof. The substrate of plastic materials may be constituted, e.g., by polytetrafluoroethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyphenyloxide, polycarbonate, and neoprene.

A process for the dissociation of high molecular weight perfluoropolyethers to obtain low molecular weight perfluoropolyethers which comprises treating a perfluoropolyether with 0.1-10% by weight of a catalyst consisting of Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, V, Cu, Mo, Sn, Sb, Zr, Zn oxides at temperatures comprised between 150.degree. and 380.degree. C.

This invention provides 1) novel reactive fluorinated compounds derived from a specified class of telomers or cotelomers of fluoroolefins; and 2) stable products and stable polymers thereof obtained by reaction or polycondensation of the novel reactive fluorinated compounds with specified classes of hydrogenated aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic reactive compounds, telechelic oligomers and block polymers wherein said stable products and polymers contain hetero atoms such as oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen and are characterized by high thermal and chemical resistance.
