The display panel includes first and second substrates, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second substrates, and displays an image. The timing controller includes a data compensating unit that outputs compensated grayscale data in an n-th pixel row, based upon a coupling capacitance generated according to a grayscale data variation between an (n−1)-th pixel row and the n-th pixel row, n′ being a natural number. The data driving part converts the compensated grayscale data to an analog data voltage, and outputs the analog data voltage to data lines.

    摘要: A display device includes a display panel having gate lines and data lines, a signal controller driving the display panel, a graphic processing unit transmitting input image data to the signal controller, a gate driver driving the gate lines, and a data driver driving the data lines. The display panel is driven at a first frequency when displaying a moving image and driven at a lower frequency when displaying a still image. The signal controller includes a frame memory storing the input image data, a calculator calculating a representative value of image data stored in the frame memory, a line memory storing the representative value, and a kick-back corrector generating auxiliary image data by correcting the representative value according to a kick-back voltage. The data driver applies an auxiliary voltage corresponding to the auxiliary image data to the data lines in a vertical blank period when displaying the still image.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a display device capable of reducing power consumption and preventing flicker, as well as a driving method thereof. An exemplary display device includes: a display panel configured for display of a still image and a motion picture; a signal controller programmed to transmit control signals for driving the display panel; and a graphic processing unit transmitting input image data to the signal controller. The signal controller includes a frame memory storing the input image data, and the display panel is driven at a first frequency when the motion picture is displayed and alternatingly driven at the first frequency and a second frequency when the still image is displayed, the second frequency being lower than the first frequency.

    摘要: A display device includes a display panel that includes a first pixel and a second pixel, the first pixel being associated with a positive pixel voltage relative to a data voltage and being associated with a first leakage current, the second pixel being associated with a negative pixel voltage relative to the data voltage and being associated with a second leakage current. The display device further includes a gate driver for providing a first gate-off voltage having a first value to at least one of the first pixel and the second pixel, the first value being in a range determined based on an equality-enabling value, wherein a value of the first leakage current is equal to a value of the second leakage current if the first gate-off voltage having the equality-enabling value is provided to the at least one of the first pixel and the second pixel.

    摘要: In order to reduce power consumption of a display device when a still picture is to be displayed, a display area of the device is subdivided into a plurality of Still Picture Refresh Groups (SPRGoP's), with each SPRGoP consisting of n pixels. All n of the pixels are charged in every one of sequential frames when a motion picture mode is in effect. Less than all of the n pixels of each SPRGoP are refreshed in each frame of an N-frame refresh cycle when a still picture mode is in effect. Different schemes for cycling through the n pixels of each SPRGoP are disclosed.
