    摘要: Methods and systems are provided for operating an internal combustion engine having an exhaust system and a plurality of cylinders that utilize fuel and/or oil for combustion and engine lubrication purposes. In one example, a method comprises, while the engine is operating in a low-load mode or an idle mode, successively operating distinct subsets of said cylinders at a cylinder load sufficient to increase an exhaust temperature for burning unburned fuel and/or oil deposited in the cylinders or engine exhaust system. Herein, each successively operated subset comprises at least one but fewer than all of the plurality of cylinders, and the cylinders that are not currently being operated in a subset are operated in a low- or no-fuel mode.

    摘要: A method of reducing emissions from a large, medium speed fuel injected diesel engine of the type used on locomotives subject to transient modes of engine operation in which the engine is accelerated or increased loads are applied. The method comprises: monitor at least one operating parameter of the diesel engine; determining, based on such operating parameter, whether the diesel engine is in a transient mode; and controlling a timing of fuel injection to cylinders of the engine, to retard the timing when the diesel engine is in a transient mode relative to the timing of fuel injection when the diesel engine is not in a transient mode of operation.

    摘要: Various methods and systems are provided for an engine system for a vehicle. In one example, the engine system includes a turbocharger including a turbine, the turbocharger configured to be driven via exhaust gas from an engine during a turbocharger mode and via the exhaust gas from the engine and mechanical output from the engine during a supercharger mode. The engine system further includes a bypass control element to decrease an amount of energy extracted from exhaust flow through the turbine in a regeneration mode of operation and to increase an amount of energy extracted from exhaust flow through the turbine during a non-regeneration mode of operation, and an aftertreatment system disposed downstream of the turbocharger and including a particulate filter.
