摘要: The present invention relates to methods of visualising cells especially although not exclusively in vivo using a dye, such as a dendrimer-dye molecule or polybranched-dye molecule which is internalised by the cells and thus permits subsequent visualisation by confocal fluorescence endomicroscopy or other optical detectors. There is also provided internally quenched probes for use in visualising cells especially although not exclusively in vivo by confocal fluorescence endomicroscopy and the use of internally quenched probes in combination with confocal fluorescence endomicroscopy, for visualising cells by virtue of internalisation and dequenching of a probe by the cells. In a particular embodiment the cells are activated neutrophils, such as within the lung of a subject.

The first crank comprising a first ratchet mechanism configured for connection to the spindle at a first end. Wherein when the first ratchet mechanism is rotated in a first direction relative to the spindle, the pawl does not engage the tooth and the first crank freewheels relative to the spindle, and wherein when the first ratchet mechanism is rotated in a second direction relative to the spindle, the pawl engages the tooth and rotation of the first crank drives the rotation of the spindle.

摘要: A biocompatible polymer mixture for use as a matrix for cellular attachment includes a mixture of at least two polymers selected from the group consisting of: chitosan (CS), polyethylenimine (PEI), poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), poly(D-lactic acid) (PDLA), poly(2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA), poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc), poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly[(R)-3-hydroxybutyric acid)] (PHB), cellulose acetate (CA), poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). Implants making use of the polymer mixtures can support cell attachment, growth and differentiation, and tissue regeneration in vivo.

摘要: This invention relates to cationic lipids. More particularly the invention relates to biodegradable cationic lipids having a plurality of cationic headgroups and one or more lipophilic tail groups. The lipids are of utility in various applications, and in particular in permitting transfection of molecules, and in particular DNA and RNA, into cells. As such the lipids have specific utility in the field of gene therapy as well as other applications such as delivery of small molecules into cells, detergents, and metal ion complexation for medical or industrial applications.

摘要: Methods of controlling the flow index and/or molecular weight split of a polymer composition are disclosed. The method of producing a polymer composition in one embodiment comprises incorporating a high molecular weight polymer into a low molecular weight polymer to form the polymer composition in a single polymerization reactor in the presence of polymerizable monomers, a bimetallic catalyst composition and at least one control agent; wherein the control agent is added in an amount sufficient to control the level of incorporation of the high molecular weight polymer, the level of low molecular weight polymer, or both. Examples of control agents include alcohols, ethers, amines and oxygen.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses for washing fabric loads without water or using water only as a co-solvent are disclosed. One method of non-aqueous clothes washing includes the steps of disposing clothing in a wash container, delivering a wash liquor to the fabric load, the wash liquor comprising a substantially non-reactive, non-aqueous, non-oleophilic, apolar working fluid and at least one washing additive, applying mechanical energy to the clothing and wash liquor for a sufficient amount of time to provide fabric cleaning and, thereafter, substantially removing the wash liquor from the fabric load. The working fluid may be selected from the group consisting of perfluorocarbons, hydrofluoroethers, fluoronated hydrocarbons and fluoroinerts.
