Abstract:
Fluoropolymer compositions containing glass microspheres are described. The glass microspheres are surface-treated with functional, fluorinated silane compounds of the formula X—Rf—(O)p—(CH2)m—Si—Y3, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of CF2═CF—O—, CH2═CH—, CH2═CHCH2—, CH2═CHCH2—O—, and CH2═CHCH2—O—CH2—.
Abstract:
A composition for use in bioseparation. The composition includes a plurality of hollow particles having a siliceous surface. The composition further includes a surface-modifying agent bonded to the hollow particles. The surface-modifying agent includes a binding segment and a reactive segment. The binding segment includes a silyl group and the reactive segment includes a reactive nitrogen group.
Abstract:
A masterbatch composition including glass bubbles dispersed in a blend of syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and cis-1,4-polybutadiene is disclosed. The glass bubbles are present in an amount of at least 30 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the masterbatch composition. A method of making a rubber composition from the masterbatch composition is disclosed as well as a rubber composition and vulcanized rubber made from the masterbatch composition.
Abstract:
A composite particle includes a discrete, hollow, ceramic spheroid and a fluoropolymer layer disposed thereon. The fluoropolymer is an amorphous homopolymer or copolymer of a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether; a perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ether; at least one fTuorookfe independently represented by formula C(R)2═CF—Rf; wherein Rf is fluorine or a perfluoroalkyl having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and R is hydrogen, fluorine, or chlorine; or a combination thereof. Methods of making the composite particles, composite materials, and articles including them are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The method of making a three-dimensional article includes heating a composition comprising a polymer and hollow ceramic microspheres, extruding the composition in molten form from an extrusion head to provide at least a portion of a first layer of the three-dimensional article, and extruding at least a second layer of the composition in molten form from the extrusion head onto at least the portion of the first layer to make at least a portion of the three-dimensional article. Three-dimensional articles are also described. A composition including a polymer and hollow ceramic microspheres is also described. The composition may be a filament. The polymer is at least one of a low-surface-energy polymer or polyolefin. The composition can be useful, for example, in melt extrusion additive manufacturing, for example, fused filament fabrication.
