摘要: A local positioning system (LPS) is provided. The LPS includes at least three local position tracking devices, each further including one or more of: a clock synchronized to the clock in each of the other devices; a transmitter transmitting signals over time synchronized to the clock; and a receiver receiving the signals over time from the other devices. The LPS further includes a processor operatively coupled to at least one of the devices and that is configured to: obtain for each of the signals a location of the device that transmitted that signal; produce one or more representations of at least a part of a living body based on at least one of one or more of the locations and one or more further representations of the at least the part of the living body, each of the representations including one or more temporal frames; and to provide output.

摘要: One embodiment provides a tightly targeted minimally invasive therapy (TTMIT) parathyroid tissue ablating instrument. A substance that cytotoxically ablates parathyroidal tissue during application in the parathyroidal tissue of therapeutically sufficient units of an electromagnetic energy having a frequency only ranging from ultraviolet to visible to near infrared. A substance delivery device is configured to introduce the substance into the parathyroidal tissue. An electromagnetic energy treatment device is configured to apply the therapeutically sufficient units of the electromagnetic energy within a thermal range that is non-cytotoxic to the parathyroidal tissue to the substance after the substance has been introduced by the substance delivery device. A sensor is configured to monitor activation of the substance as the therapeutically sufficient units of the electromagnetic energy are applied. The electromagnetic energy treatment device is further configured to modulate applying the therapeutically sufficient units of the electromagnetic energy once the substance has been activated.

摘要: An instrument for therapeutically cytotoxically ablating parathyroidal tissue is disclosed. A substance is capable of transforming the parathyroid gland from overproduction of parathyroid hormone when the substance's quantity exceeds a set amount, and is capable of transforming the parathyroid gland from overproduction only when activated by application of sufficient units of an electromagnetic energy having a frequency ranging from 400 THz to 30 PHz when the substance's quantity is below the set amount. A delivery device is operable to introduce the substance into the parathyroidal tissue and to quantitatively limit the quantity to below the set amount. An energy device is operable to apply units of the electromagnetic energy after the substance has been introduced. A sensor is operable to monitor the activation of the substance as the electromagnetic energy is applied. The energy device is further operable to modulate applying the electromagnetic energy when the substance has been activated.

摘要: A sealing pad (14) made of a compliant and resiliently deformable gelatinous elastomer suitable to conform under pressure to form a substantially airtight seal with at least a portion of the user's skin adjacent to the sealing pad (14). The gelatinous elastomer may be attached to a second material by incorporating the gelatinous elastomer into a large plurality of interstitium in the second material. In addition, the second material can be configured to form an endoskeleton or exoskeleton that modifies the physical properties of the gelatinous elastomer.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for locating the parathyroid. In one aspect, temporal variation among a plurality of images is evaluated and at least one image is enhanced according to the temporal variation. The image may be enhanced to one or both of reduce conspicuity of the thyroid gland and enhance conspicuity of the parathyroid gland. Some of the plurality of images may be adjusted in order to align representations of a target portions. Adjustments may be based locations of one or more organs or one or more artificial markers affixed to a living body in the plurality of images. A local positioning system (LPS), GPS, or other locating system may be used to position a living body, align the plurality of images, or to guide the positioning of objects relative to the living body. An elastomeric gel marker for imaging applications is also disclosed.

摘要: An instrument for therapeutically cytotoxically ablating parathyroidal tissue is disclosed. A substance delivery device with which a quantity of an activator substance that is less than a cytotoxic ablation quantity threshold of a parathyroid gland can be percutaneously introduced into parathyroidal tissue is provided. The activator substance, when introduced, is not activated. An energy source device that includes a selector with which a quantity of an energy that is less than a cytotoxic ablation energy threshold of the parathyroid gland can be selected and an energy production device operable to apply the energy to the activator substance is provided. The activator substance, when introduced, and the energy indicated, when applied to the introduced activator substance, are in combination capable of cytotoxically ablating the parathyroid tissue and transforming the parathyroid gland from overproduction to non-overproduction of the parathyroid hormone in a manner that maintains non-parathyroidal tissue functions and is non-lethal.
