    Abstract: Described herein is a bismuth-containing catalyser, which is defined by a general formula (I). The bismuth-containing catalyser includes at least one radical R1, which includes a carboxyl fragment according to the general formula (II), where a first carbon atom (α-carbon) is bonded to the carbon atom of the carboxyl group, which in turn is directly substituted with at least one aromatic system. Also described herein is a method for preparing the bismuth-containing catalyser and a method of using the bismuth-containing catalyser for preparing compounds including a urethane group.

    Abstract: A pigmented aqueous basecoat material that includes a reaction product obtained by reacting (a) a compound of formula (I) with (b) a compound of formula (II) at a molar ratio of 2.3/0.7 to 1.7/1.6, the reaction product having a number-average molecular weight of 500 to 15,000 g/mol, an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g, and a hydroxyl number of 25 to 250 mg KOH/g: X1—Y—X2  (I), wherein: X1 and X2 are each independently an epoxide-reactive functional group, or hydrogen, where at least one of X1 and X2 is the epoxide-reactive functional group; and Y is a divalent aliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon radical having a number-average molecular weight of 100 to 2,500 g/mol, wherein R is a C3 to C6 alkylene radical and n is selected such that compound (b) possesses an epoxide equivalent weight of 100 to 2,000 g/mol.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a pigmented aqueous basecoat material including a polyether-based reaction product which is preparable by reaction of (a) at least one carboxy-functional component which is preparable by esterification reaction of at least one dihydroxycarboxylic acid (a1) with at least one dicarboxylic acid (a2) and/or the anhydride of a dicarboxylic acid (a2), the components (a1) and (a2) being used in a molar ratio of 0.5/3.0 to 1.7/1.8, with (b) at least one polyether of a general structural formula (I) in which R is a C3 to C6 alkylene radical and n is selected accordingly such that the polyether (b) possesses a number-average molecular weight of 500 to 5000 g/mol, the components (a) and (b) being used in the reaction in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.6/1.7, and the resulting reaction product possessing an acid number of 10 to 50 mg KOH/g.
