摘要: An apparatus deployed through a laparoscopic incision in a body wall to apply an external lifting force over a large area of the body wall. The apparatus comprises a body wall engaging element and an elongate lifting member. The body wall engaging element is capable of passing in a packaged state through the laparoscopic incision, is inflatable to an inflated state, and includes, in the inflated state, a plane lifting surface. The elongate lifting member includes a distal portion connected to the plane lifting surface, and capable of passing through the laparoscopic incision. A proximal portion receives the external lifting force in a direction that moves the body wall engaging element into contact with the body wall. A method for lifting a body wall by applying an external lifting force to a large area of the body wall through a laparoscopic incision. The lifting device is provided that includes an body wall engaging element capable of passing through the laparoscopic incision in a packaged state. The lifting device also includes a lifting member including a distal portion to which the body wall engaging element is connected. The body wall engaging element and the distal portion of the lifting member are advanced through the laparoscopic incision. The body wall engaging element is inflated to an inflated state to provide a plane lifting surface. Finally, the external lifting force is applied to the proximal portion of the lifting member to move the lifting surface into contact with the body wall.

摘要: Surgical accessories are presented in vivo and used by surgical tools in the surgical site to perform additional tasks without the need to remove the tools from the surgical site for tool change or instrument loading. Some accessories need to be actuated to effect a predetermined treatment, such as an aortic punch, clamps, pliers, and the like. For such accessories, the actuation can conveniently be performed by an operator such as an assistant remotely from outside the patient's body while placement of the accessories takes place in the surgical site by manipulating the accessories using robotic surgical tools in the site. A lockdown feature may be incorporated in accessories to lock them in place remotely from outside the surgical site upon actuation.

摘要: An apparatus for retracting an organ to gain access to treat a tissue. The apparatus has a main envelope, a second envelope, a first inflation device and a second inflation device. The main envelope encloses a main chamber, and includes a window and a removable window. The second envelope covers substantially all the main envelope, except the window and the removable window. The second envelope and the main envelope enclose a second chamber outside the main chamber. The first inflation device passes a fluid into the main chamber to expand the main chamber and the second chamber from a compacted state to retract the organ. The second inflation device passes a fluid into the second chamber to further expand the second chamber to maintain the organ in its retracted state after fluid has been released from the main chamber.

摘要: A robotic surgical system includes an instrument driver and an instrument assembly operatively coupled to the instrument driver such that mechanisms of the instrument driver operate or control movement, operation, or both, of components of the instrument assembly. The instrument assembly components include an elongate flexible guide instrument, an optical light source, a camera and a working tool, wherein the light source, camera, and working tool are carried in one or more lumens of the guide instrument. An operator control station is operatively coupled to the instrument driver via a remote communication link. The instrument assembly further includes an inflatable visualization balloon carried on a distal end portion of the guide instrument, the light source and camera having distal ends located within an interior of the balloon, the balloon comprising a lumen extending from the guide instrument to a distal facing wall of the balloon, such that the working instrument may extend from a respective lumen of the guide instrument through the balloon lumen to contact body tissue when the distal end of the guide instrument is positioned in an interior body region.

摘要: A robotic catheter system includes a controller with a master input device. An instrument driver is in communication with the controller and has a guide instrument interface including a plurality of guide instrument drive elements responsive to control signals generated, at least in part, by the master input device. An elongate guide instrument has a base, distal end, and a working lumen, wherein the guide instrument base is operatively coupled to the guide instrument interface. The guide instrument includes a plurality of guide instrument control elements operatively coupled to respective guide drive elements and secured to the distal end of the guide instrument. The guide instrument control elements are axially moveable relative to the guide instrument such that movement of the guide instrument distal end may be controlled by the master input device.
