    摘要: Low molecular weight siloxane fluids are thickened by silicone elastomers. The silicone elastomers are made by crosslinking reactions of .tbd.Si--H containing siloxanes and an unsaturated hydrocarbon such as an alpha, omega-diene, in the presence of a low molecular weight siloxane fluid. The .tbd.SiH siloxane is first partially reacted with a mono-alkenyl functionalized polyether. It is then crosslinked by the alpha, omega-diene, in the presence of the low molecular weight siloxane fluid. An elastomer, i.e. gel, with polyether groups is produced. The elastomer can be swollen with the low molecular weight siloxane fluid under shear force, to provide a uniform silicone paste. The silicone paste has excellent spreadability upon rubbing, and possesses unique rheological properties in being thixotropic and shear thinning. The silicone paste can be easily emulsified with water to form a stable uniform emulsion, without using a surfactant to allow normally immiscible materials to become intimately mixed.

    摘要: Silicone gels are made by reacting an .tbd.Si--H containing polysiloxane with an alpha-olefin and an alpha, omega-diene. The reaction is conducted in the presence of a platinum catalyst and in the presence of a low molecular weight silicone oil. First, an .tbd.Si--H containing polysiloxane is grafted by long chain alkyl groups from the alpha-olefin onto the .tbd.Si--H containing polysiloxane, and then crosslinked with double bonds in the alpha, omega-diene, in the presence of the low molecular weight silicone oil. The formed silicone gel can then be crumbled into a silicone powder using mechanical force. When additional amounts of the low molecular weight silicone oil are added to the gel, and the silicone oil and the gel are subjected to shear force, a silicone paste can be formed.

    摘要: Soluble silicone resin compositions having good solution stability and a method for their preparation. The silicone resin comprises the reaction product of a mixture comprising (A) 15-70 mol % of a tetraalkoxysilane described by formula Si(OR1)4, where each R1 is an independently selected alkyl group comprising 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, (B) 12 to 60 mol % of a hydrosilane described by formula HSiX3, where each X is an independently selected hydrolyzable substituent, (C) 15 to 70 mole percent of an organotrialkoxysilane described by formula R2Si(OR3)3, where R2 is a hydrocarbon group comprising about 8 to 24 carbon atoms or a substituted hydrocarbon group comprising a hydrocarbon chain having about 8 to 24 carbon atoms and each R3 is an independently selected alkyl group comprising 1 to about 6 carbon atoms; in the presence of (D) water, (E) hydrolysis catalyst, and (F) organic solvent for the reaction product.
