The compositions comprise a mixture of SAN resin, an elastomeric halogenated copolymer comprising a C.sub.2 to C.sub.12 monoolefin, e.g. isobutylene, and a ring-substituted alklstyrene, e.g., para-methylstyrene, and a compatibilizing agent such as zinc stearate.

摘要： The invention generally relates to thermoplastic blends having improved properties. Optionally, these blends may be dynamically vulcanized. More specifically, this invention is directed to a composition comprising a blend of chloromethylated(styrene-isobutylene) polymer and a thermoplastic resin selected from the group consisting of polyamides, polyesters, polycarbonates, polysulfones, polyacetals, polyacetones, acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene resins, polyphenylene oxide, polyphenylene sulfide, styrene-acrylonitrile resins, styrene-maleic anhydride resins, polyamides, aromatic polyketones, ethylene vinyl alcohol polymer and mixtures thereof. Tires and tire components such as air permeation prevention films comprising these compositions are also provided.

摘要： Graft copolymers having cationic units pendant to the backbone chain are disclosed. These polymers are prepared by reacting a polymer containing halogenated para-methylstyrene units in the chain, e.g., a brominated copolymer of isobutylene and para-methylstyrene, with an anionically polymerized polymer made using an organolithium initiator compound having the formula R1 R2 Z R3—Li where R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, R3 is a direct link or an organic radical and Z is nitrogen or phosphorous. Reaction of the anionically polymerized polymer having an R1 R2 Z R3— end group with the halogenated polymer leads to graft polymers coupled by a quaternary ammonium or phosphonium groups.

The composition also contains an organic peroxide as a co-curative and one or a mixture of saturated polymer blend components which are co-curable with the halogenated copolymer. The curable composition may further comprise EPDM.

Alternatively, a high melting thermoplastic polymer containing a non-polar rubber or a polar rubber or both is blended with a polyolefin thermoplastic polymer containing a non-polar rubber, or a polar rubber, or both. The composition is dynamically vulcanized. The cured multi-component thermoplastic elastomer compositions exhibit good end use properties such as hardness, tensile strength, modulus, flexibility.

摘要： The invention relates to peroxide- or radiation-curable copolymer containing compositions and to the resulting radiation- or peroxide- cured compositions. The compositions may optionally contain a reinforcing filler. Copolymers employed in the compositions are acrylate modified copolymers of an isoolefin of 4 to 7 carbon atoms and para-alkylstyrene comonomers. Since the percentage of extractables from the cured composition is negligible, the cured compositions are suitable for use in the manufacture of a variety of high purity rubber goods used in the pharmaceutical and health care industries. In addition, the compositions may be employed as condenser packings and as food contact materials or wire cable insulation materials. Further, the cured composition may be employed in the manufacture of high purity hoses.
