    摘要: A liquid crystal display device whose architrave area is reduced by reducing a distance between input and output terminals of each tape carrier package for supplying driving voltages to the liquid crystal display device is provided. The liquid crystal display device to which the present invention is applied comprises a liquid crystal display panel, a plurality of tape carrier packages provided around the liquid crystal display panel and a circuit board connected to each tape carrier package. Each tape carrier package comprises a semiconductor chip having a plurality of input terminals and a plurality of output terminals and a film having an opening at the middle thereof and provided, at the opening thereof, with a plurality of input side wires to be connected to the plurality of input terminals of the semiconductor chip and a plurality of output side wires to be connected to the plurality of output terminals of the semiconductor chip. A distance between the input terminals and the output terminals is reduced by disposing a plurality of kinds of functional element blocks within the semiconductor chip so that a part is created through which an imaging data signal input from the input terminal flows in the opposite direction from the direction in which the liquid crystal display device is disposed.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device using a tape carrier packaged semiconductor device, which is designed to prevent a crack from developing in part of its resin mold. The semiconductor device is provided with a film-like substrate, a group of electrodes including a plurality of parallel electrodes, each of which is formed with its leading end conforming to one side of the film-like substrate and being elongated in the direction perpendicular to the one side thereof, a semiconductor chip mounted on the film-like substrate in such a manner that it abuts on the group of electrodes, located close to the one side thereof and connected via a wiring layer to the respective electrodes, and a resin mold for use in covering the semiconductor chip. Notches extending in the direction of the parallel electrodes are cut in the film-like substrate beneath the group of electrodes and wherein the leading and trailing ends of each electrode serves to link the electrode and the film-like substrate. A film-like substrate piece formed by the notch and used to support the leading end of each electrode is separated from the film-like substrate in the neighborhood of the resin mold.

An adjacent interference detecting unit compares a signal level of a wide band signal which is a desired station signal of a relatively wide band and a signal level of a narrow band signal which is a desired station signal of a relatively narrow band, and judges that adjacent interference has occurred when the signal level of the narrow band signal is less than or equal to a predetermined level even though the signal level of the wide band signal is greater than or equal to a predetermined level. A variable amplifier (36) attenuates an L−R signal and forms a monophonic signal when the signal level of the narrow band signal is lower than a predetermined level. With this process, when there is adjacent interference, a signal level of the narrow band signal at which the attenuating unit starts attenuating the L−R signal is changed to a relatively high value.
