The back surface thereof has a groove provided with the condensing lens and a terrace-like portion disposed below the cavity structure portion and has a terrace shape with the cleavage direction along a longitudinal direction thereof provided along a cleavage direction of the semiconductor substrate.

Accordingly, readiness in alignment of the light emitting diode and an optical fiber, which guides light emitted from the light emitting diode, with each other is upgraded. The light generated by the first optical waveguide device portion is bent upward by the total reflection mirror of the first optical waveguide device portion.
