A domain-adapted portable machine translation device for closed captions using dynamic translation resources and a method thereof are provided. The device and method improve translation performance with respect to various specialized domains by automatically recognizing style and domain of a caption sentence, dynamically constructing specialized translation module and knowledge, and performing automatic translation with optimal translation resources suitable for a corresponding sentence.Not only does the domain-adapted portable machine translation device for closed captions exhibit improved translation performance for sentences in various domains, but it can also be freely linked with various media devices through input/output terminals.

Provided are an automatic translation device and a method thereof. The automatic translation device includes: a character string error correcting unit correcting an error of an input text; a language simplification processing unit substituting the input text with a simplified input text by applying context based constraints and rules corresponding thereto; and an automatic translation unit translating the simplified input text into an output text. As a result, it is possible to ultimately improve automatic translation quality by mitigating inconvenience of an input text writer due to restriction of a vocabulary using list and a text configuring rule.

Further, the user-interactive automatic translation device includes a text transmission controller for transmitting the error-corrected text string; and an automatic translation controller for receiving the error-corrected text string from the text transmission controller, performing a morpheme analysis, tagging, a structure analysis, a structure conversion, and a vocabulary conversion on the text string to generate a translation of the text string based on a grammar of a target language.
