A process/apparatus is disclosed for continuously separating a liquid medium comprising diluent and unreacted monomers from a polymerization effluent comprising diluent, unreacted monomers and polymer solids, comprising a continuous discharge of the polymerization effluent from a slurry reactor through a discharge valve and transfer conduit into a first intermediate pressure flash tank with a conical bottom defined by substantially straight sides inclined at an angle to that of horizontal equal to or greater than the angle of slide of the slurry/polymer solids and an exit seal chamber of such diameter (d) and length (I) as to maintain a desired volume of concentrated polymer solids/slurry in the exit seal chamber such as to form a pressure seal while continuously discharging a plug flow of concentrated polymer solids/slurry bottom product of said first flash tank from the exit seal chamber through a seal chamber exit reducer with inclined sides defined by substantially straight sides inclined at an angle to that of horizontal equal to or greater than the angle of slide of the polymer solids which remain after removal of about 50 to 100% of the inert diluent therefrom to a second flash tank at a lower pressure.

Biaxial orientation to similarly produce breathable films may be accomplished by the same method. By heating the rollers, the breathability of the film is increased without increasing the depth of engagement of the interdigitating rollers.

The invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a branched olefin copolymer derived from olefinically unsaturated monomers capable of insertion polymerization having A) a T.sub.g as measured by DSC less than or equal to 10.degree. C.; B) T.sub.m greater than 80.degree. C.; C) an elongation at break of greater than or equal to 300%; D) a tensile strength of greater than or equal to 1,500 psi (10,300 kPa); and E) an elastic recovery of greater than or equal to 50%. The invention also relates to process for preparing the invention composition comprising: A) polymerizing ethylene or propylene and optionally, one or more copolymerizable monomers in a polymerization reaction under conditions sufficient to form copolymer having greater than 40% chain end-group unsaturation; B) copolymerizing the product of A) with ethylene and one or more comonomers so as to prepare said branched olefin copolymer. The branched olefin copolymer compositions of the invention are suitable as replacements for styrene block copolymer compositions and in other traditional thermoplastic elastomer applications.

This invention relates to single site catalyst systems comprising activated bimetallocyclic transition metal compounds, and the use of these catalyst systems for the polymerization of ethylenically and acetylenically unsaturated monomers. The bimetallocyclic compounds comprise two metal atoms, selected from the group consisting of Group 4 or Group 5 metal atoms, connected through two covalent bridging links so as to form a cyclic compound having delocalized bonding in the cyclic structure. The exemplary bimetallocyclic compound bis-M-(trimethylsilyl-methylidyne) tetrakis-(trimethylsilylmethyl) ditantalum activated with alumoxane and borate compounds is shown to be useful for preparing ethylene polymers having M.sub.n of at least 267,000 and MWD of about 2.3.

Disclosed is a method of making an olefin product from an oxygenate feedstock comprising, contacting the feedstock in a reaction zone containing 15 volume percent or less of a catalyst, preferably a catalyst comprising a silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieve. In order to obtain the desired product content, i.e., an olefin product having a low level of by-products, conversion of the feedstock in the 15 volume percent or less reaction zone should be maintained between 80 wt % and 99 wt % at the conditions effective to convert 100 wt % of the feedstock when the reaction zone contains at least 33 volume percent of the catalyst material.

This invention is for LLDPE blends with an ethylene-norbornene copolymer for resins and improved toughness and processibility for film production. This invention provides LLDPE based resins which are significantly improved with respect to their capability to be fabricated into a film layer, particularly by a blown bubble extrusion technique. Films prepared of the LLDPE/E-NB melt blended resins of this invention are significantly improved with respect to certain of their film properties, such as tear strength, without detracting from the beneficial properties that a LLDPE otherwise provides to a film.
