摘要: According to the present invention, organic material is converted to biogas through anaerobic digestion and the biogas is purified to yield a combustible fluid feedstock comprising methane. A fuel production facility utilizes or arranges to utilize combustible fluid feedstock to generate renewable hydrogen that is used to hydrogenate crude oil derived hydrocarbons in a process to make transportation or heating fuel. The renewable hydrogen is combined with crude oil derived hydrocarbons that have been desulfurized under conditions to hydrogenate the liquid hydrocarbon with the renewable hydrogen or alternatively, the renewable hydrogen can be added to a reactor operated so as to simultaneously desulfurize and hydrogenate the hydrocarbons. The present invention enables a party to receive a renewable fuel credit for the transportation or heating fuel.

摘要: An engineered microorganism(s) with novel pathways for the conversion of short-chain hydrocarbons to fuels and chemicals (e.g. carboxylic acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, and their alpha-, beta-, and omega-functionalized derivatives) is described. Key to this approach is the use of hydrocarbon activation enzymes able to overcome the high stability and low reactivity of hydrocarbon compounds through the cleavage of an inert C—H bond. Oxygen-dependent or oxygen-independent activation enzymes can be exploited for this purpose, which when combined with appropriate pathways for the conversion of activated hydrocarbons to key metabolic intermediates, enables the generation of product precursors that can subsequently be converted to desired compounds through established pathways. These novel engineered microorganism(s) provide a route for the production of fuels and chemicals from short chain hydrocarbons such as methane, ethane, propane, butane, and pentane.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for obtaining at least one organic target product and biogas. The method is characterised in that a) organic substrate is introduced into an anaerobic fermentation process; b) in this anaerobic fermentation process a hydrolysis, acidification and methanation are performed using a mixed culture of bacteria and archaea without spatial separation; c) partial suppression of the anaerobic fermentation is realised, with the result that a part of the organic substrate is not completely decomposed to biogas or methane; d) at least one target product is enriched as an organic metabolite of at least one microorganism in the fermentation process by deliberate incomplete composition of the organic substrate; e) the biogas formed in the anaerobic fermentation process is recovered for further use; and f) at least one organic target product is obtained from the anaerobic fermentation process for further use.

摘要: Modification of the amino acid sequence of a phenylpyruvate decarboxylase from Azospirillum brasilense produces a novel group of phenylpyruvate decarboxylases with improved specificity to certain substrates, including in particular C7-C11 2-ketoacids such as, for example, 2-ketononanoate and 2-keto-octanoate. This specificity enables effective use of the phenylpyruvate decarboxylase in, for example, an in vivo process wherein 2-ketobutyrate or 2-ketoisovalerate are converted to C7-C11 2-ketoacids, and the novel phenylpyruvate decarboxylase converts the C7-C11 2-ketoacid to a C6-C10 aldehyde having one less carbon than the 2-ketoacid. Ultimately, through contact with additional enzymes, such C6-C10 aldehydes may be converted to, for example, C6-C10 alcohols, C6-C10 carboxylic acids, C6-C10 alkanes, and other derivatives. Use of the novel genetically modified phenylpyruvate de carboxylases may represent a lower cost alternative to non-biobased approaches.
