摘要: A turbocharged internal combustion engine comprising: a turbocharger (15) actuators for opening and closing the exhaust valves (a, b) and an electronic controller which controls operation of the actuators to thereby control opening and closing of the exhaust valves (a, b). The exhaust valves comprise a first exhaust valve (a) connected to a first exhaust duct (14) and a second exhaust valve (16) connected to a second exhaust duct (16). The first exhaust duct (14) is connected to the turbocharger (15) so that exhaust gases passing through the first exhaust duct (14) drive the turbocharger (15). The second exhaust duct (16) bypasses the turbocharger (15) and the combusted gases flowing through the second exhaust duci are exhausted without passing through the turbocharger (15). The electronic controller by controlling the opening and closing of the first (a) and second (b) exhaust valves controls what proportion of the combusted gases leaving the combustion chamber flow through each of the first (14) and second (16) exhaust ducts.

摘要: A combustion engine method and system provides increased fuel efficiency and reduces polluting exhaust emissions by burning fuel in a two-stage combustion system. Fuel is combusted in a piston engine in a first stage producing piston engine exhaust gases. Fuel contained in the piston engine exhaust gases is combusted in a second stage turbine engine. Turbine engine exhaust gases are used to supercharge the piston engine.

An exemplary system includes an electric compressor to boost intake charge pressure supplied to an internal combustion engine; an electric turbine to generate electrical power from exhaust received from the internal combustion engine; and an electric power control to provide electrical power from a power storage to the electric compressor upon a request for boost and to provide electrical power generated by the electric turbine to the electric compressor after a request for boost and upon a depletion of the power storage to a predetermined power storage level. Various other exemplary methods, devices and/or systems are also disclosed.

摘要: The system is based on incorporating a start turbocompressor capable of injecting pressurized air in the inlet manifold of the motor. The turbocompressor is driven by air supplied by a storage reservoir and starts operating after an air starter motor has been actuated. Operation is continued until, as a result of the ignition of the fuel, the engine attains a high speed, after which the starter motor and the turbocompressor are disengaged, whereby the engine decelerates. When the engine reaches a preset low speed, the turbocompressor is reengaged and stages of operation of the turbocompressor coinciding with engine acceleration alternate with inoperative stages coinciding with engine deceleration until an engine speed above the low speed is maintained. An electronic sequencer controls the successive operations.
