摘要: Discloses a photo machining apparatus and a photo-fabrication method to perform two-dimensional or three-dimensional fabrication of an inorganic transparent material with a precision of 10 nm. Soft X-ray (2) emitted from a soft X-ray source (1) is focally applied by an optical system 3 comprising a combination of a concave mirror and convex mirrors onto an inorganic transparent material (4) in a predetermined pattern to generate new absorption in a irradiated region of the inorganic transparent material, which is then irradiated with a machining laser beam (5) so that a visible or ultraviolet machining laser beam (5) having a high energy density is absorbed exclusively in the part of the patterned inorganic transparent material (4) to fabricate the inorganic transparent material (4).

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method for the site specific enhancement of cytokine release (through chemotaxis) namely beta chemokines and enhance healing via an enhanced overall immune response. The site specific enhancement of cytokine release is achieved by initiating an inflamatory response by laser therapy.

摘要: To provide an accelerator system having a wide ion beam current control range, being capable of operating with low power consumption and a long maintenance interval and being capable of preventing unnecessarily large dose of the ion beam for irradiation from erroneously being supplied to the downstream side of the system. In an accelerator system designed to treat the patient with irradiation of a high-energy ion beam accelerated by a post-accelerator 4 comprising a synchrotron in irradiation rooms 6 to 8, a value of ion beam current to be supplied to the post-accelerator 4 is controlled by a pre-accelerator comprising an ion source 10, quadrupole electromagnet 15, radio frequency quadrupole accelerator 17 and a drift tube type accelerator 19. The accelerator system featuring low power consumption, a long maintenance interval and high reliability can be made available.

摘要: A mirror projection system for use in a step-and-scan lithographic projection apparatus, in which a mask pattern (15) is repetitively scan-imaged on a number of areas of a substrate (20) by means of a beam (b) of EUV radiation having a cross-section shaped as a segment of a ring, has six imaging mirrors (5-10). The design is such that no intermediate image is formed and the system has a negative magnification. When using this projection system in a scanning apparatus, the mask and the substrate move in opposite directions during scanning, which is advantageous from a mechanical point of view.

摘要: A delivery system and method for interstitial radiation therapy comprising substantially axially stiff and radially flexible elongated members made of material which is bioabsorbable in living tissue and a plurality of radioactive seeds dispersed in a predetermined array within the elongate member. The radioactive seeds can be dispersed within assembled half-shells made of the same material. The housing for the radiation seeds can also be manufactured from extruded material. A system for manufacturing the interstitial radiation therapy seed strands that automatically makes the seed strands is also provided. The delivery system and method further customize the member based on a prescription.

摘要: Radiation delivery devices useful in brachytherapy which employ radioactive palladium-103 as the radiation source material are disclosed. Certain embodiments of the disclosed radiation delivery devices have the advantages that they can be fabricated with the desired specific activity, that the self-shielding effects of the devices are minimized, that the radioactive source material is bonded to a substrate in a manner which substantially prevents it from becoming detached, and that a variety of customizable radiation delivery devices can be made using the concepts of the invention. Also disclosed are processes for bonding radiation source material to various substrates using electroless plating, chemical vapor deposition and polymer matrices. These processes have the advantage that they can be applied to bond the radiation source material to a wide variety of substrates including different substrate materials and differently shaped substrates, thereby providing the ability to tailor the radiation delivery devices to the specific requirements of a particular brachytherapy treatment.

摘要: A system for brachytherapy is provided. The system includes an implantation device having a tubular member, a radioactive source within the member, and a socket at opposing ends of the tubular member. A plurality of implantation devices may be joined into an assembly by use of a spacer positioned within the sockets of adjoining devices. The device may be deployed at an implantation site by use of a delivery mechanism, such as needle. The presence of the tubular members and spacers minimizes movement of the radioactive source subsequent to deployment, so as not to alter dose distribution for subsequent irradiation.

摘要: A radiotherapy system, and preferably a brachytherapy system, for delivering radiation to tissue surrounding an interstitial space is provided. While the system can be used for a variety of purposes, the system is preferably used to treat spinal metastases. In general, the system includes a catheter member having a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner lumen extending therethrough, and a structural support adapted to fit within an interstitial space in load bearing portion of a patient's body and having an internal space for removably receiving the distal end of the catheter member. At least one anchoring element can be disposed proximate to the distal end of the catheter. The anchoring element is preferably adapted to fit within the internal space in the structural support so as to anchor the distal end of the catheter therein. The system further includes a radiation source disposable within the internal space of the structural support through the lumen in the catheter for delivering radiation to tissue surrounding the interstitial space.
