摘要： A process is illustrated for rendering a water repellent fabric fire retardant without adversely affecting the fabric''s water repellent characteristics. The water repellent fabric is treated with an aqueous medium containing a fire retarding agent and a thermally degradable surfactant such as the diacetyl dilauryl amide derivative of triethylenetetramine and then dried. On drying, the surfactant degrades and the water repellent characteristics of the fabric are restored.

摘要： Two catalytic additives are added to a mixed solution of acetone and furfural to produce a resinous solution for use in impregnating a carbonaceous product. A carbonaceous article is impregnated with the solution at a reduced pressure, and the article is immersed in a concentrated sulfuric acid bath. Then, it is withdrawn from the acid bath, rinsed, and dried. Finally, it is subjected to a heat treatment at elevated temperatures to carbonize or graphitize the carbon product impregnated with the resinous solution.

摘要： An inorganic film in either the crystalline or vitreous state is formed in situ on a suitable substrate by the decomposition of metal and/or metalloidal resinates. A plurality of metallic and/or metalloidal resinates, which form inorganic oxides upon decomposition in air or an oxidizing atmosphere, are physically admixed to form a resinate mixture. The resinate mixture is applied to the substrate and the substrate is fired in air to a temperature sufficient to (1) decompose the resinate mixture to form the inorganic oxides and (2) combine the resultant inorganic oxides to form a film either in the crystalline or amorphous state on the surfaces of the substrate.
