摘要: An actuation device includes a lancing device held by and moveable relative to a distal end portion of a housing. A drive member is supported by the housing and arranged to engage the lancing device to move the lancing device in the first direction from a retracted position to an extended position upon movement of the drive member in a first direction. A piercing member of the lancing device is arranged to extend from the distal end portion of the housing by a first distance when the lancing device is moved to the extended position, the first distance being adjustable by adjusting the retracted position of the lancing device relative to the distal end portion of the housing.

摘要: A catheter system may include a catheter lumen, first and second electrodes, and a sensor in communication with the first and second electrodes. The sensor may be configured to detect at least one of: a bulk volume of blood within a blood vessel and extravasation of a drug from the blood vessel into soft tissue adjacent the blood vessel. Other catheter systems may include a catheter lumen and a sensing chip coupled to the catheter lumen. 摘要: A patch-sized fluid delivery device may include a reusable portion and a disposable portion. The disposable portion may include components that come into contact with the fluid, while the reusable portion may include only components that do not come into contact with the fluid. Redundant systems, such as redundant controllers, power sources, motor actuators, and alarms, may be provided. Alternatively or additionally, certain components can be multi-functional, such a microphones and loudspeakers that may be used for both acoustic volume sensing and for other functions and a coil that may be used as both an inductive coupler for a battery recharger and an antenna for a wireless transceiver. Various types of network interfaces may be provided in order to allow for remote control and monitoring of the device.

摘要: A drug delivery device comprising a delivery unit (2) including an internal reservoir (8), a subcutaneous delivery mechanism (6), a pump for pumping liquid from the internal reservoir to the subcutaneous delivery system, and a liquid filling mechanism (12) configured for injecting liquid from an external vial (16) or reservoir into the internal reservoir. The liquid filling mechanism comprises a filling port (14) and a valve mechanism (18) selectively operable to: open a first fluid path (54) extending from the filling port to the internal fluid reservoir and close a second fluid path (56) extending from the internal reservoir to the subcutaneous delivery member, or close the first fluid path and open the second fluid path. The valve mechanism comprises a valve housing (48) fixedly mounted in relation to a housing of the drug delivery device and a valve stem (50) rotatably received within the valve housing, whereby the first fluid path and the second fluid path are selectively operated by the rotational position of the valve stem in relation to the valve housing, such that when the valve stem is in a first position, the first fluid path is open while the second fluid path is closed, and when the valve stem is in a second position, the second fluid path is open while the first fluid path is closed.

摘要: Disclosed is a medical device component for delivering medication fluid to a patient. The medical device component includes a fluid infusion device to regulate delivery of medication fluid, a body-mountable base unit, and a top cover assembly that is removably couplable to the base unit and to the fluid infusion device. The base unit includes a cannula to deliver medication fluid under the control of the fluid infusion device, and a physiological analyte sensor to measure a physiological characteristic. The base unit also includes an electronics assembly electrically connected to sensor leads to obtain measurements in the analog domain, to convert measurements into digital sensor data, and to communicate conditioned digital sensor data to the fluid infusion device. The top cover assembly is configured to provide both fluid and electrical connections for the base unit, by way of an infusion tube having sensor conductors integrated therein or otherwise associated therewith.

摘要: Ablation systems and methods detect and address distortion caused by a variety of factors. A method includes measuring a temperature curve at target tissue; applying ablation energy to the target tissue; determining a peak temperature on the temperature curve; if the peak temperature is greater than the predetermined peak temperature, determining a time at which the temperature curve crosses to a lower temperature; and if the determined time is greater than a predetermined time, generating a message indicating that the target tissue was successfully ablated. Another method includes determining a distance between a remote temperature probe and an ablation probe, applying ablation energy to target tissue, measuring temperature at the remote temperature probe, estimating ablation size based on the determined distance and the temperature measured by the remote temperature probe, and determining whether the target tissue is successfully ablated based on the estimated ablation size.

摘要: A wearable fluid metering device for delivering medication subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously to a patient, includes a polymer actuator pump. The polymer actuator pump is flexible so it will conform to shape and yet can be used to rapidly displace a volume within a confined area. The actuator is much faster than prior art polymer actuator designs and can be actuated in multiple ways including introduction and hydration of the polymer matrix by a solution or the actuator can be actuated via pH change while it is in solution. The pH change can be made via electrical current such as that used in electro chemistry or the pH change can be made via a chemical change introduced to the actuator hydrating solution.

The interposer comprises a channel for distributing the medication from the reservoir to the needle, a thin membrane defining a portion of the channel as a chamber for receiving the medication, and a piezoelectric transducer positioned on the thin membrane that functions as an actuator for moving the thin membrane toward and away from the chamber of the channel.
