    摘要: A method comprising synthesizing a cyclic organic compound via reaction of an unsubstituted or substituted cyclopentene with an unsubstituted or substituted acrylic acid in the presence of phosphoric and/or sulfonic acid reagent to make the cyclic organic compound. Also, a method of synthesizing a ligand for a transition metal, and a related substituted ligand-metal complex and catalyst, from the unsubstituted or substituted cyclopentene and unsubstituted or substituted acrylic acid. Also, the cyclic organic compound, ligand, and substituted ligand-metal complex and catalyst synthesized thereby. Also a method of polymerizing an olefin with the catalyst to give a polyolefin, and the polyolefin made thereby.

    摘要: A method of producing higher alkanones, preferably 6-undecanone, from ethanol and/or acetate, may include: (a) contacting the ethanol and/or acetate with at least one microorganism capable of carrying out carbon chain elongation to produce hexanoic acid and/or an ester thereof from the ethanol and/or acetate; (b) extracting the hexanoic acid and/or ester thereof from the contacting (a) using at least one extractant in an aqueous medium, the extractant including at least one alkyl-phosphine oxide and at least one C12+ alkane; or at least one trialkylamine and at least one C12+ alkane; and (c) contacting the extracted hexanoic acid and/or ester thereof from (b) with at least one ketonization catalyst and eventually a further C1 to C22 alkanoic acid under suitable reaction conditions for chemical ketonization of hexanoic acid and eventually the further alkanoic acid to a higher alkanone, preferably 6-undecanone.

    摘要: Processes for producing long chain ethers from long chain secondary alcohols using fatty acid containing feedstocks. In an embodiment, a long chain secondary alcohol may be reacted with a primary alcohol, a secondary alcohol, or an olefin to form a long chain ether. In another embodiment, a long chain secondary alcohol or the corresponding alkoxide may be reacted with an alkyl halide to form a long chain ether. In yet a further embodiment, a long chain secondary alcohol may be converted to a halide, and the halide may be reacted with a second alcohol or the corresponding alkoxide to form a long chain ether. Long chain ether compositions of matter are also disclosed.
