摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods and systems using a hydride-forming Group VI transition metal chalcogenide catalyst, such as MoSx, for selective electrocatalysis of enzyme cofactor regeneration. In particular, a method of electrochemical cofactor regeneration comprising: holding an electrode comprising a Group VI transition metal chalcogenide catalyst at a potential sufficient to form a metal hydride in an aqueous electrolyte solution; and contacting the electrode with an oxidized cofactor to reduce the cofactor, is provided. The reduced cofactor can be used by a cofactor-dependent oxidoreductase to convert a substrate to a desired product and subsequently regenerated.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a method for generating ethylene by electrochemical selective hydrogenation of acetylene, including the following steps: continuously feeding acetylene gas into an organic solvent at a flow rate of 1 sccm to 50 sccm to obtain a solution; adding an electrolyte in the form of a solution or a solid such that the solution has an electrolyte concentration of 0.1 M to 3 M, a conductivity of 100 μs·cm−1 to 500 μs·cm−1, and a current density of 10 mA·cm−2 to 300 mA·cm−2; adding a hydrogen source such that the solution has a proton concentration of 0.1 M to 28 M; turning on an electrochemical treatment unit, and conducting constant-current or constant-potential electrolysis such that the acetylene gas is continuously and efficiently converted into ethylene gas after the electrolysis is stably conducted. The method has simple operations, low energy consumption, and quick response.

摘要: An electrochemical cell and method for reducing carbon dioxide and/or dehydrogenating a hydrocarbon to an olefin are provided. The electrochemical cell includes a cathode having a first conducting component that is active toward adsorption and reduction of an oxidizing agent such as CO2; and an anode having a second conducting component that is active toward adsorption and oxidation of a reducing agent such as a hydrocarbon. Additionally, a hydrophobic modifier is present on at least a portion of a surface of the second conducting component or both the first and second conducting components. The method includes exposing the cathode to a CO2-containing fluid; exposing the anode to a hydrocarbon-containing fluid; and applying a voltage between the cathode exposed to the CO2-containing fluid and the anode exposed to the hydrocarbon-containing fluid, wherein the voltage is sufficient to simultaneously oxidize the hydrocarbon via a dehydrogenation reaction and reduce the CO2.
