Abstract:
Disclosed are 2-(amino or substituted amino)-5-(substituted oxymethyl)-phenol compounds according to the Formula (I). Also, compositions for the oxidative dyeing of keratin fibers, comprising a medium suitable for dyeing and a compound of the Formula (II), as defined herein. The substituents of both formulae may themselves be substituted or unsubstituted. Further, methods for oxidative dyeing of keratin fibers, comprising applying such compositions in the presence of an oxidizing agent, for a period which is sufficient to develop the desired coloration.
Abstract:
Couplers for hair coloring compositions for oxidative dyeing of hair are compounds of formula (I): Wherein X is selected from of halogen and R SO4R is selected from C1 to C2 alkyl and hydroxyethyl; and R, R ,R and R are each independently selected from C1 to C22 alkyl or C1 to C22 mono or dihydroxyalkyl.

Abstract:
Novel biphenyl and biphenyl-like cannabinoid compounds are presented. These compounds, when administered in a therapeutically effective amount to an individual or animal, result in a sufficiently high level of that compound in the individual or animal to cause a physiological response. The physiological response useful to treat a number of physiological conditions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to mitochondria protecting agents for treating diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction leads to tissue degeneration and, more specifically, to compounds, compositions and methods related to the same. The methods of this invention involve administration of a pharmaceutically effective amount of a mitochondria protecting agent to a warm-blooded animal in need thereof, and composition of this invention contains a mitochondria protecting agent in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. Mitochondrial associated diseases which may be treated by the present invention include (but are not limited to) Alzheimer's Disease, diabetes mellitus, Parkinsons's Disease, neuronal and cardiac ischemia, Huntington's disease and stroke.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use of a 3-substituted para-aminophenol of formula (I) as an oxidation dye precursor for dyeing keratinous fibres such as human hair, wherein R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl, nitrile, cyanoalkyl, halogenoalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, mono- ou polyhydroxyalkyl, provided that when R2 is hydrogen, R1 is not methyl ou trifluoromethyl; or one of its acid addition salts. Tinctorial compositions containing the compound of formula (I) are also provided. The invention also concerns novel 3-substituted para-aminophenols.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to modulators of ATP-Binding Cassette ("ABC") transporters or fragments thereof, including Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator, compositions thereof, and methods therewith. The present invention also relates to methods of treating ABC transporter mediated diseases using such modulators.

Abstract:
The invention relates to an oxidative colouring agent for keratin fibres, in particular hair, based on a developing agent-coupling agent combination, which contains as a developing agent, at least one 2-hydroxy-5-amino-biphenyl derivative of general formula (I), in addition to novel 2-hydroxy-5-amino-biphenyl derivatives.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for novel benzene compounds and saccharide compounds and for the use of said compounds for binding, titration (quantification), removing, purifying or separating the glycoprotein gp120, gp120 comprising viruses or cells infected with gp120 comprising viruses. The invention also provides for a method for the detection, binding, titration (quantification), removal, purification or separation of (or directing therapeutic or other agents to) gp120, gp120 comprising viruses or cells infected with gp120 comprising viruses. The invention further provides for the use of the compounds and for methods using the compounds for directing anti -viral drugs or other agents to gp120 comprising viruses or to gp120 comprising virus - infected cells. The present invention also provides processes for the preparation of said novel compounds.
