    Abstract: A process for highly efficiently producing various arylbis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)methanes which have a bulky aryl group or electron-attracting aryl group and which have conventionally been regarded as difficult to synthesize; a novel arylbis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)methane widely applicable as a catalyst for asymmetric synthesis, various functional materials, etc.; metal salts of these; and an excellent catalyst. An arylhalomethane is reacted with sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate. The arylmethyltrifluorocarbon yielded is reacted with t-BuLi, etc. The arylmethyltrifluorocarbon lithium salt obtained is reacted with trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride. Thus, an arylbis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)methane, e.g., pentafluorophenylbis(trifuryl)methane or {4-(pentafluorophenyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl}bis(trifuryl)methane, is obtained in high yield.

    Abstract: 2,6-exo configured tricyclo[5.2.1.0 ]decane derivatives with functional side chain in C-8/C-9, having the general formula (A) wherein R , R , R and R are hydrogen residues, or R is a methyl group and R , R and R are hydrogen or methyl residues, one of the substituents being a methyl residue and the other two hydrogen residues; the underlined lines between C-4 and C-5, respectively C-11 and C-12 represent a double bond C-C or a single bond C-C; R and R are hydrogen or straight or branched chain lower alkyl residues containing from 1 to 6 atoms of carbon; X is a carbonyl or hydroxyl function. The compounds of the general formula (A) may be preferably used as perfumes or ingredients of perfume mixtures and as perfumed oils for cosmetic and technical products.
