Abstract:
An apparatus and a process for forming an oval shaped duct, as well as a round duct for all required sizes and thicknesses for an AC system, in one continuous operation where two driving rolls advance a flat metal sheet to a multi-positioning bending roll, where the bending roll is moveable to a bending position for different curvatures and a non-bending position. The driving rolls advance the sheet through while the bending roll bends the sheet to form the curved sides, and the bending roll in the non-bending position form the flat sides of the oval shaped duct. A position sensor detects the position of the flat metal sheet in the rolls to control the location along the sheet where the bending roll is moved to either of the bending or non- bending positions while the driving rolls are stopped.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing of aluminium alloy cheese tube/ cheese pipe or bobbin for woven sack. The present invention provides light weight, strong and accurate product made from specific aluminum alloys (i.e. 6082 or 6061) duly cold drawn and heat treated to achieve very high strength to weight ratio. The primary billets of aluminum alloys are subjected to a porthole extrusion process sequentially it is subjected to cold drawn for reducing the cross sectional area of the tube. After cold drawn, tubes are further solution treated by special quenching of fog or water. Solution treated porthole extruded aluminum alloy tube can also be used as feed stock. After successive cold drawing, the tubes are straightened on the straightening machine to relieve stress and subsequently the age hardening is carried out to achieve desired tensile strength and percentage elongation in the product.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of producing metal fibers including melting a mixture of at least a fiber metal and a matrix metal, cooling the mixture to form a bulk matrix comprising at Ieast a fiber phase and a matrix phase and removing at Ieast a substantial portion of the matrix phase from the fiber phase. Additionally, the method may inciude deforming the bulk matrix. In certain embodiments, the fiber metal may be at Ieast one of niobium, a niobium alloy, tantalurn and a tantalum alloy and the matrix metal may be at Ieast one of copper and a copper alloy. The substantial portion of the matrix phase may be removed, in certain erbodiments, by dissolving of the matrix phase in a suitabie minerai acid, such as, but not Iimited to, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochioric acid and phosphoric acid.
Abstract:
Aqueous electroplating solutions and methods are provided for the codeposition of zinc and chromium. The solutions include effective amounts of zinc, chromium, and hydroxyl ions. The solutions further include an effective amount of one or more ions of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, or a combination thereof other than sodium and potassium, to in major part balance the hydroxyl ions. A preferred alkali is rubidium.
Abstract:
In accordance with the invention a reactive multilayer foil is fabricated by providing an assembly (stack or multilayer) of reactive layers, inserting the assembly into a jacket, deforming the jacketed assembly to reduce its cross sectional area, flattening the jacketed assembly into a sheet, and then removing the jacket. Advantageously, the assembly is wound into a cylinder before insertion into the jacket, and the jacketed assembly is cooled to a temperature below 100 DEG C during deforming. The resulting multilayer foil is advantageous as a freestanding reactive foil for use in bonding, ignition or propulsion.
Abstract:
A method of hydroforming a tubular structure of varying diameter along its longitudinal axis, comprising the formation of a tubular blank member by welding together, at their periphery, tubes of different diameters using electromagnetic pulse welding.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for producing parts made of thin, light and rigid metal alloy essentially comprising the following steps: producing a core (2) having the part (1) shape; producing cavities (4) in said core; producing skins (10) made of metal alloy combined with reinforcing fibres with high modulus of elasticity; densifying the skins (10); diffusion welding of said skins (10) on the core (2) by compression at temperature and pressure conditions for isothermal forging of the metal alloy used.
