Abstract: The present invention relates to a pane with thermal radiation reflecting coating, comprising at least one substrate (1) and at least one thermal radiation reflecting coating (2) at least on the interior-side surface of the substrate (1), wherein the pane has transmittance in the visible spectral range of less than 5%, and the coating (2), proceeding from the substrate (1), comprises at least: one adhesive layer (3) that contains at least one material with a refractive index of less than 1.8, one functional layer (4) that contains at least one transparent, electrically conductive oxide, one optically high-refractive-index layer (5) that contains at least one material with a refractive index greater than or equal to 1.8, and one optically low-refractive-index layer (6) that contains at least one material with a refractive index of less than 1.8.

The TL(inside) is in the range from 5 to 46% and the TL(outside) is in the range from 20 to 73% and the TL(outside) is greater than or equal to TL(inside), wherein the TL(inside) is the light transmittance of an inner stack that is formed by the inner glass pane and the layers between the PDLC layer and the inner glass pane, and TL(outside) is the light transmittance of an outer stack that is formed by the outer glass pane and the layers between the PDLC layer and the outer glass pane.

Abstract: A laminated pane arrangement has a functional element based on liquid crystals, wherein the optical properties of the functional element and an electrical resistance heater of at least one flat electrode are controlled by two different AC voltages. In accordance with a first aspect, the functional element is contacted on two opposite sides by the AC voltages. The AC voltages differ in maximum amplitude, but have the same frequency. In accordance with a second aspect, the functional element is controlled by an AC voltage. At least one flat electrode is heated by an additional AC voltage of greater frequency. A fault in the control of the optical properties of the functional element is prevented by high-pass filters.

The vehicle window pane can be switched between a transparent state and a turbid or opaque state.
