Abstract: A gas replacement process and a gas replacement apparatus are employed, in the nitro compound hydrogenation reaction process. The gas replacement process at least includes a first step of subjecting a stream to be replaced to the gas replacement in presence of a first replacement gas, and then a second step of subjecting to the gas replacement in presence of the second replacement gas. Assuming the superficial velocity of the first replacement gas is V1, and the superficial velocity of the second replacement gas is V2, then V2/V1≥1.5.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for the removal of metal sulfides from spent catalysts in reactor vessels and associated equipment are described herein. Using the methods described herein, metal sulfides of a spent catalysts are converted to metal oxides and gaseous and liquid by-products when reacted with a formulation having one or more oxidizing agents. Also, using the methods described herein, metal sulfides and sulfides in the process equipment are oxidized, eliminating the potential formation of polythionic and thionic acids protecting materials from polythionic stress corrosion cracking. Also, using the methods described herein, halides (including chloride) and halide containing compounds and salts in the process equipment are removed, eliminating the potential formation of halide acids and further neutralized via pH buffering, and protecting materials from halide stress corrosion cracking.

Abstract: Methods of treating hydroconversion catalysts used for cracking of hydrocarbons are described. A method can include mixing an inactive hydroconversion catalyst with a solid hydrocarbon containing material having a melting point of 50° C. or greater. The inactive hydroconversion catalyst/solid hydrocarbon containing material mixture can be contacted with a gaseous stream that includes hydrogen (H2) and a sulfur-containing compound under conditions sufficient to sulfide the catalyst and carbonize at least a portion of the hydrocarbon containing material on the sulfided catalyst to obtain a treated sulfided hydroconversion catalyst.

Abstract: Herein disclosed is a dry reforming reactor comprising a gas inlet near the bottom of the reactor; a gas outlet near the top of the reactor; a fluidized bed comprising a catalyst; and one or more hydrogen membranes comprising palladium (Pd). In some cases, the one or more hydrogen membranes comprises Pd alloy membranes, or Pd supported on ceramics or metals. In some cases, the one or more hydrogen membranes are placed vertically in the reactor as hydrogen membrane tubes hanging from the top of the reactor. In some cases, the hydrogen membranes are configured to selectively collect hydrogen from the tubes via one or more internal manifolds and sent to an external hydrogen collection system.
