An evaporative cooler pad has opposing faces and is formed from a substantially noncompressible batt of substantially uniformly distributed natural cellulosic lightweight elongate segments such as aspen wood shavings. The segments are oriented in generally horizontal planes and extend in various directions with respect to each other to form interconnecting interstices and passageways throughout the pad. A preformed hydrophilic foam directly coats substantially all the surfaces of the individual segments. The coating is substantially less than the thickness of the segments so as to increase the cross-section of the segments without interconnecting the segments to each other and without bridging between the segments so that the interstices and passageways throughout the batt remain substantially intact. The foam has a minute cellular structure so that when contacted by water, the foam serves to wick the water along the surfaces of the pad and significantly increase the evaporative efficiency of the pad.

A composite panel is provided which comprises an organic foam core with layers of inorganic fibers on opposite major surfaces of the core. The fibrous layers are affixed to the core in a manner such that they are functionally integral therewith, thereby providing dimensional stability for the core. In a preferred embodiment, the panel is embodied in roof insulation which consists of a core of organic foam with a mat of inorganic fibers located on an upper surface of the foam core and a layer of inorganic fibers located on a lower surface of the core. The lower surface of the insulation is affixed to an underlying roof structure by a layer of adhesive and specifically asphalt. Alternate layers of asphalt and fibrous mats are applied over the upper mat of the inorganic fibers to complete the roof insulation system.

An anti-slipping pad mainly fuses a braid with a shaped underlying layer and a foaming paste of a surface layer which is not shaped by way of high-temperature fusing to form an integrally covered sandwich structure. Thus, the overall material structure can be fused and is free from peeling off after a long period of time of adhering. Meanwhile, if the anti-slipping pad is applied to the bedding or scarf place mat, it can be arbitrarily placed in and cleaned by a washer or dishwasher without worrying about the peel-off problem.

The process includes: a) Before depositing the latex foam inserting, by interference fit, supporting elements of resilient deformability having a predetermined thickness between pairs of protuberances of horizontal rows, the supporting elements of unlimited length; b) Carrying away the supporting elements with the advancing laying surface between an injection latex foam station and a layer extracting station; c) Embedding with latex foam the supporting elements.
