Abstract:
A control system for remotely configuring a locomotive may include an operational control device located on-board the locomotive, wherein the operational control device may be configured in a run configuration when the locomotive is ready for travel. An on-board controller located on-board the locomotive may be configured to switch the operational control device to the run configuration upon receipt of a configuration command signal. An off-board remote controller interface located remotely from the locomotive may be configured to receive a configuration failure signal, wherein the configuration failure signal may be indicative of the operational control device being in a configuration other than the run configuration. The off-board remote controller interface may selectively send the configuration command signal to the on-board controller to switch the operational control device to the run configuration.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of managing parking braking in a braking system for a vehicle fitted with at least one electric brake including at least one electric actuator having a pusher actuated by an electric motor for selectively applying a force against friction elements of the brake, the method comprising the steps of: establishing a series of direct adjustment tables for parking braking, corresponding to braking situations at different energy levels; when applying parking braking, selecting a direct adjustment table corresponding to a braking situation preceding the application of parking braking; and directly adjusting a parking braking force in application with the selected direct adjustment table.
Abstract:
A brake system includes a master cylinder configured to generate a hydraulic pressure, a primary brake actuator configured to increase and decrease the hydraulic pressure generated in the master cylinder, a secondary brake actuator connected in series with and downstream of the master cylinder and in series with and upstream of the primary brake actuator, and configured to increase and decrease the hydraulic pressure generated in the master cylinder, and at least one wheel cylinder configured to apply brake torque to a wheel of a vehicle based on the hydraulic pressure generated by the master cylinder and increased or decreased by the primary actuator or the secondary actuator. An automatic brake hold control method includes sequential performing an automatic brake hold control on at least one wheel cylinder by the primary brake actuator and then the secondary brake actuator.

Abstract:
A system and method for classifying an actuation of an electric parking brake of a vehicle is presented. In one example, the system includes a sensor configured to sense a vehicle parameter, an output device, a memory including an electric parking brake usage profile, and an electronic controller configured to receive the electric parking brake usage profile, receive the vehicle parameter, detect an actuation of the electric parking brake, and in response to detecting an actuation of the electric parking brake: determine a reason for the actuation of the electric parking brake, determine an attribute of the vehicle based on the vehicle parameter, classify the actuation of the electric parking brake based on a numerical value of the attribute and/or the reason for the actuation of the electric parking brake, update the electric parking brake usage profile based on the classification, and output the updated parking brake usage profile.
Abstract:
A front impact mitigation system for a host vehicle and a method for operating a front impact mitigation system. The front impact mitigation system can take into account the position of a rear object that trails the host vehicle to develop a modified front impact mitigation control signal that at least partially mitigates the likelihood of certain rear impact collisions between the rear object and the host vehicle when the host vehicle is responding to the presence of an impending leading obstacle. A modified front impact mitigation control signal may be developed to account for the speed of the host vehicle and the distance that the rear object trails the host vehicle.
