摘要: A novel anti-dandruff agent being a fumagillin derivative according to formula (I), and use of said agent as an anti-dandruff actives in anti-dandruff compositions, particularly shampoos and conditioners. The active is particularly effective against Malassezia yeasts and Malassezia furfur which may cause dandruff. A method of obtaining the fumagillin derivative from culturing of Peyronellaea sp. strain RKDO347 is also described.

摘要: A method of producing 3-oxoadipic acid from an aliphatic compound easily utilizable by a microorganism, such as a saccharide, by utilization of a metabolic pathway of the microorganism is disclosed. The method of producing 3-oxoadipic acid includes the step of culturing at least one type of microorganism having a capacity to produce 3-oxoadipic acid, selected from the group consisting of, for example, microorganisms belonging to the genus Serratia, microorganisms belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, microorganisms belonging to the genus Hafnia, microorganisms belonging to the genus Bacillus, microorganisms belonging to the genus Escherichia, microorganisms belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, microorganisms belonging to the genus Acinetobacter, microorganisms belonging to the genus Alcaligenes, microorganisms belonging to the genus Shimwellia, microorganisms belonging to the genus Planomicrobium, microorganisms belonging to the genus Nocardioides, microorganisms belonging to the genus Yarrowia, microorganisms belonging to the genus Cupriavidus, microorganisms belonging to the genus Rhodosporidium, microorganisms belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and microorganisms belonging to the genus Microbacterium.

摘要: The present application provides a culture medium for producing β-glucan. The culture medium comprises: a carbon source, lecithin and an ascorbic acid. The present application further provides a method for producing β-glucan, the method comprising culturing Aureobasidium pullulans in the culture medium for fermentation. The Aureobasidium pullulans is advantageous in producing no melanin; as a result, the yield of β-glucan can be increased and the waste can be reduced with the improved culture medium composition and culturing method.

摘要: Novel compounds, called liamocins from Aureobasidium pullulans, having the general structure in Formula 1 are disclosed. where R1 is either COCH3 or H; and R2 is between two to ten O-linked 3,5-dihydroxydecanoate; and R3 can be a polyol (e.g., L- or D-glycerol, L- or D-threitol, L- or D-erythritol, L- or D-arabitol, L- or D-xylitol, L- or D-lyxitol, L- or D-ribitol, L- or D-allitol, L- or D-altritol, L- or D-mannitol, L- or D-iditol, L- or D-gulitol, L- or D-glucitol (also called sorbitol), L- or D-galactitol (also called dulcitol), and L- or D-talitol), 2-amino-D-mannitol, 2N-acetylamino-D-mannitol, L-rhamnitol, or D-fucitol; except when R3 is D-mannitol, R2 is not 2 nor 3 O-linked 3,5-dihydroxydecanoate chains. These liamocins described above in addition to D-mannitol liamocin A1, D-mannitol liamocin A2, D-mannitol liamocin B1, and D-mannitol liamocin B2, alone or in combination with each other, can be used to kill certain bacteria and to treat certain bacterial infections.

摘要: Provided is a transformant which can produce lactic acid with a high productivity without requiring neutralization with an alkali and is excellent in both of lactic acid production capability and growth ability and its production process, and a method for producing lactic acid by using the transformant.A transformant containing from 3 to 5 copies of a lactate dehydrogenase gene derived from human and introduced into a Schizosaccharomyces pombe host, wherein a gene that is a part of a group of genes encoding pyruvate decarboxylase of the Schizosaccharomyces pombe host is deleted or inactivated. A transformant characterized by providing a cell concentration of at least 4.0 g (on a dry cell weight basis)/L of a culture broth prepared by inoculating cells, at an initial cell concentration of 0.04 g (on a dry cell weight basis)/L, into a 500 mL Sakaguchi flask containing 100 mL of a liquid culture broth which includes 1% of yeast extract, 2% of peptone and 6% of glucose, and then cultivating 20 hours at a temperature of 32° C. under shaking conditions of 110 rpm and 7 cm stroke, and providing a lactic acid concentration of at least 80 g/L of a fermentation liquor prepared by inoculating cells obtained by cultivating 20 hours under the above-described conditions, at an initial cell concentration of 36 g (on a dry cell weight basis)/L, into a 11.1% glucose aqueous solution, and then fermenting 3 hours at a temperature of 32° C. under shaking conditions of 110 rpm and 7 cm stroke. A method for producing lactic acid by using these transformants.

摘要: The present invention is related to an active substance of Hericium erinaceus having a pain-relieving effect, and a pharmaceutical composition including the active substance. The active substance is prepared using the following steps: (a) inoculating a mycelium of H. erinaceus on an agar plate and incubating at 15-32° C. for 8-16 days; (b) inoculating the incubated H. erinaceus mycelia from step (a) into a medium in a flask and incubating at 20-30° C. and pH 4.5-6.5 for 3-5 days; (c) inoculating the incubated H. erinaceus mycelia from step (b) into a medium in a fermentation tank and incubating at 24-32° C. and pH 4.5-5.5 for 8-16 days to obtain a fermented medium of the H. erinaceus mycelia; and (d) desiccating the fermented medium of the H. erinaceus mycelia from step (c) to obtain the powder of the H. erinaceus mycelia, which is further purified and isolated to obtain a novel compound of H. erinaceus.
