    摘要： An antimicrobial composition that contains an antimicrobial agent and a sugar alcohol is provided. The sugar alcohol is more generally more biocompatible and biodegradable than the antimicrobial agent. In addition, without intending to be limited by theory, it is believed that sugar alcohols increase the attraction of the antimicrobial agent to microorganisms (e.g., the cytoplasmic membrane of bacteria). Because a greater percentage of the antimicrobial agent molecules are brought into contact with the microorganisms, the efficiency of growth inhibition is increased. Thus, the antimicrobial composition provides good efficacy without the need for high levels of an antimicrobial agent.

    摘要： A composition providing electrically conductive adhesive hydrogels suitable for use as skin contact adhesives and, particularly, suitable for use as an electrical interface for disposable medical devices. The present hydrogels provide for reduced skin irritation and/or malodor properties, hydrate a subject's skin, readily wet around a subject's skin surface hair, and protect against burning of a subject upon or due to electrical stimulation through the hydrogel. These hydrogels generally include a monomer, a first initiator, a solubilizer, and a cross-linking agent. The present hydrogels also desirably include a buffer system to help prevent discoloration of the hydrogels and/or hydrolysis of the hydrogels as well as to improve shelf-life. Other additives such as conductivity enhancers, pharmaceuticals, humectants, plasticizers, skin health agents, etc. may be added to the present hydrogels either before or after curing.

    摘要： A nonwoven fabric treated with an alkyl polyglycoside surfactant solution results in a heterogeneous system having antibacterial activity when in contact with an aqueous source of bacteria. The antibacterial activity imparted to the nonwoven fabric renders the nonwoven fabric useful in a wide variety of absorbent products, such as personal care products and medical absorbent products, which are typically exposed to aqueous sources of bacteria. Furthermore, the alkyl plyglycoside surfactant is virtually non-irritating and non-sensitizing to human skin.

    摘要： The present invention relates to a combination for surface treatment of a substrate, e.g. a nonwoven web, used in personal care product applications. The surface treatment combination not only provides adequate fluid handling properties, but also provides a topical delivery system effective in depositing a thin, tenacious and substantially continuous coating of a botanical extract on skin by an aqueous emulsion mediated dissolution of the agent from a substrate with subsequent transfer and deposition onto the skin. Coatings of the botanical extract on the skin resist removal, thereby preventing damage to the natural skin barrier and providing a protective barrier against chemically- and biochemically-induced skin damage.
